Problems with Host On-Demand

Host On-Demand

If you can connect to the Internet, but Host On-Demand will not launch, there are several things to do before calling the NSB Helpdesk for assistance:

 Ask others in the office if they are also experiencing a problem accessing Host On-Demand.  If others can access the Internet but cannot access Host-On Demand, contact the NSB

Helpdesk for assistance.

If others can access Host On-Demand, but you cannot:

 Type in the main ITS Host On-Demand website address: http://3270.its.state.nc.us or  (if that doesn’t get you there) go to

http://middleware.its.state.nc.us/middleware/HOD/hodhomeblue.jsp  Press the ENTER key.

 Add this website to favorites:

(http://middleware.its.state.nc.us/middleware/HOD/hodhomeblue.jsp)  Pull the Favorites menu down to Add To Favorites

(2)

(3)

 Be patient while HOD detects the level of Java support on the system.

When the IBM WebSphere Host On-Demand website appears, the mainframe application logon screen should automatically load. If the CICS logon screen does not come up:

 Double click on the 3270 TLS Display monitor icon displayed under the Host On-Demand Client tab.

 Ignore the FTP/sftp (FTPTLS) icon.

User Note

Host On-Demand no longer supports the following operating systems: Windows 98

(4)

 Add this website

(http://scc.its.state.nc.us/hod/DL3270N.html?JavaType=java2&Obplet=applet) to favorites as well.

The mainframe application logon screen will not automatically pop up the very first time you install 3270 TLS Display.

To enable the mainframe application logon screen to come up automatically:  Right-click the 3270 TSL Display icon.

(5)

 Locate Preferences on the TSL Display menu.  Click on Start Options.

 Click the Yes radio button next to Start Automatically.  Click the OK button.

(6)

If the mainframe application logon screen still does not come up:  Make sure that Java support is enabled in the browser

 Pull the Tools menu down to Internet Options.

 Click on the Advanced tab

 Scroll down the list and look for Java (SUN)

 If the Java (Sun) plug-in appears in the list but is not enabled  Click a checkmark in the box next to Use Java v2...  Click the OK button.

(7)

User Note

Java 6 Update 6 does not work with Host On-Demand.

(8)

 Go to the http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html website (or whatever the most up to date version might be).

 Scroll down to “J2SE v 1.4.2_07 JRE includes the JVM technology”  Click on Download Windows J2SE JRE

(9)

If you still cannot get into Host On-Demand, but everyone else can, contact the Local IT support for assistance with the PC, internet or network setup. You may not have the administrative rights necessary for updating Java software or there may be some other issue to troubleshoot. View Settings for Host On-Demand
