International
BI Norwegian Business School’s Executive MBA programme has a global focus and brings together participants and faculty
with international experience. The Executive MBA includes international courses that give participants exposure to busi-
ness practices and trends in different environments. These courses will take you to Nanyang Business School in Singapore,
IE Business School in Madrid (Spain) and Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley in San Francisco
(USA) if you take the Executive MBA programme. If you choose the specialisation in Energy, the international modules
take place at BI in Stavanger (Norway), IFP School in Paris (France) and Haas School of Business, University of California
at Berkeley in San Francisco (USA).
The International background of the faculty and participants together with the international courses will give participants
first hand experience and understanding of how traditional business models are challenged by global trends.
“A lot of different people! It has been really nice to learn from different cultures, experiences and backgrounds.
That is definitely one of the benefits of this programme”.
J. Gruner (Norway) Netcom
“ The Singapore visit was kind of our eye opener to the Asian culture; how Asians think when they do business, and what Asians think about leadership. And Singapore is one of the major business hubs in Asia. It’s both Chinese and western at the same time”.
R. Vige (Norway) Pronova
“I think the level and quality of the professors in Berkeley was absolutely fantastic.
That module absolutely exceeded my expectations”.
S. de Jong (US) Lebara

PROGRAMME CONTENT AND LEARNING
ENVIRONMENT
The Executive MBA curriculum consists of core courses and specialised courses that are taught during six two-week residential modules.
In addition, group work is a significant part of the learning process both during residential modules and the periods in between.
At BI, we also understand that learning is not a one-way street, that it is not an environment bound by traditional lectures. Because learning is about engagement between students and lecturers, the involvement of students is vital to the success of our programmes. We ensure that they continually face business problems and organisational issues that are linked to real-world scenarios. In this way academia and business come together to create a challenging and beneficial setting.
Core courses
The core courses transcend the traditional distinction between the
“hard” and “soft” aspects of management and provide an integrating framework for the entire programme. They provide participants with a practical analysis and an in-depth study of managerial issues.
Silicon Valley symbolises the entrepreneurial spirit which has made American business the world’s pace-setter for inventiveness and technological advancement. As BI promotes innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit among participants, a two week course on these topics takes place at the University of California at Berkeley.
International Courses
In addition to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship course in Cali- fornia for all participants, the programme will take you to two more international destinations depending on the track you choose:
Executive MBA:
• Singapore, with a focus on doing business in Asia.
• Madrid, with a focus on European regulations and Latin America.
Executive MBA-specialisation in Energy:
• Stavanger, which is the energy capital of Norway, with several major international companies operating in the region, some of which will be visited.
• Paris, with a focus on oil and gas fundamentals.
Leadership development
The leadership development component is closely linked to the leaders- hip course. It involves an assessment of leadership at the beginning of the programme and right after graduation. Furthermore, each partici- pant will be assigned to a mentor who follows up with the participant during the programme.
Consultancy Project
The Consultancy Project is an integrated learning experience that ties together all of the various threads of the Executive MBA
programme. It adds a new dimension to the interaction between participants and faculty by bringing in client or company relationships.
The Consultancy Project provides participants with a collaborative and multidisciplinary experience based on real-life, strategic challenges.
Participants undertake an in-depth analysis of a situation or an issue faced by the partner company. The project allows participants to implement and consolidate their understanding of the concepts and tools taught during the programme and to relate it to their own work experience.
The structure of the programme allows participants to work full time and to study part
time as part of an exciting and international learning environment.

EMPOWERING MANAGERS TO RECHARGE THE ENERGY INDUSTRY
The specialisation in Energy will allow you to:

Stavanger which is the oil capital of Norway, with several major international companies operating in the region such as Statoil, BP, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Baker & Hughes, FMC Technologies, Schlumberger, Seawell, Halliburton and E.ON E&P.
Paris at IFP School which is an integrated part of IFP Energies Nouvelles and is a world-class research and teaching centre, aimed at developing the technologies and materials of the future in the fields of energy, transport and the environment.
“ The EMBA in Energy gave relevance to the generic MBA subjects, since the energy specific subjects had depth that made the programme really stand out as being grounded in the ‘real world’.
The programme gives you an excellent insight into the complexities of the energy industry and the opportunities that abound there for those that can capitalise on them”
