New Event-Scheduling
Software and New Events
Calendar Now Live
(via Stephen Shoemaker, Intercom) The Ithaca College campus community has two new tools to reserve and schedule event space and to promote their events. Please remember that these are separate systems.
25Live replaces the Resource25 (R25) scheduling application. It is a web-based tool that allows students, faculty, and staff to view up-to-date room availability and request event space 24/7, from any computer connected to the Internet.
With 25Live, users will be able to: • View event, location, and space
collections, calendars, and grids • Create/edit event details
• Save your user preferences for future event entry
• Search rooms and events Once your event space has been
reserved, you can use the new calendar of events to promote it to the campus community and the public. The
calendar homepage showcases featured and trending events (based on
popularity). Once you log in with your Netpass, you can submit events, mark events that you plan to attend, review events afterward, and follow groups and other calendar users. Additional functions available include:
• Search tools that allow you to view events by type, venue, or group • Linking events to Facebook Event
pages
• Event Calendar user profiles: Follow groups, add friends, and review events you attended
• Profiles for student organizations and groups. If you’re interested in having one created, please email [email protected].
• Sharing events through social media channels such as Twitter
• Seeing who plans to attend your event Again, please remember that 25Live and the Events Calendar are separate systems. Having a room reservation confirmed on 25Live does not mean your event will automatically appear on the Event Calendar. You can access 25Live at https://25live.collegenet.com/ithaca/. Mo re information, including the latest demonstrations and training times, can be found at the 25Live User Support web page. Additional questions can be directed to Heather Schuck, scheduling coordinator, Campus Center and Event Services, at
[email protected] or (607) 274-3313. The Events Calendar can be found at events.ithaca.edu. Students, faculty, and staff will be able to post events to the calendar directly, though there will be an approval process before they go live on the site. More information and training material is available at ithaca.edu/events/help. If you have additional questions, please email [email protected] or call (607) 274-1440.

IC Created Equal
IC Created Equal identifies as “A political activist organization that emphasizes critical thinking about issues of inequality. Through coalition building, we can use collective resources to creatively express multiple points of view, and implement projects to aid in
spreading awareness and social change. All people, who represent a diversity of perspectives, races and ethnicities, sexual orientations, and other identities and experiences, are more than welcome to attend and join this organization.” Ithaca College’s Created Equal participates in several events each year. They also support many of the efforts on campus relating to both diversity and
acceptance of all backgrounds. The is student organization is currently under the leadership of Co-Presidents Candace Burton and Aaron Lipford. Candace’s favorite event that she participated in over the past semester as Co-President were the masculinity discussions, and she is enthused about all of the upcoming events that will be happening within the near future. Candace stated, “I enjoy partnering with other clubs because it allows us to talk to people and other student organizations we don’t usually interact with. There were some exciting things going on for IC Created Equal last semester. IC Created Equal’s meetings

included discussions about masculinity during the month of November, kicking off their series by partnering with Athlete Ally on a discussion of Men in Sports. Created Equal also teamed up with African-Latino Society and the Student Activities Board to host a Poetry Slam back in September. They have even more great events coming this spring. This semester, Created Equal is planning to continue collaborating with Athlete Ally to follow up on last semester’s discussion. This time, both organizations will focus on “Women in Sports” with a correlating theme to Women’s History Month. In April, Created Equal is planning a vigil to help commemorate victims of hate crime and bullying as well as a celebration for the student
organization itself. They also plan to celebrate the history of the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach &
Services on campus. Created Equal will have many opportunities for members to be involved this
semester. To learn more information about IC Created Equal and their upcoming events, please visit their Facebook and IC Link page by clicking the links provided. Their weekly meetings occur on Tuesdays at 7pm in Friends 102.

SAB presents Upright
Citizens Brigade
The Student Activities Board recently held a comedy event that had the whole crowd laughing in IC Square! The event opened with IC’s Acahti Club players, and their improv acts proved to be a hit! Up next, the main attraction of the night – the Upright Citizens Brigade improv group! “UCB is an annual event that a lot of students look forward to, and it’s great to see a huge turnout and support for that improv group,” says Natalie Reed, SAB Films Chair. Great job SAB for providing a fun-filled and humorous night for all!

Step Afrika!
The African Latino Society, along with OSEMA’s help, hosted a rather large event in Emerson Suites that featured a popular dance crew called Step Afrika! This event fused together step dancing with South African dancing, and it got everyone clapping! The members of Step Afrika even got members of the audience involved when they taught them some basic steps on stage. “It was an interactive event where we got students involved with stepping, which has been historically a part of the black and latino community. It was exciting to bring this group to the IC community and be a part of the planning for it, and we hope to bring them back again!” says Aaron Lipford, a historian for ALS. Great job ALS!

CAC’s Kickoff Event
Colleges Against Cancer held their second kickoff event recently, and it was a huge success! The point of the event was to give people an opportunity to sign up for Relay for Life. Relay is a 12-hour event that focuses oncelebrating those in our lives who have won the battle against cancer, those who are currently fighting cancer, and those who are remembered. It is an event that brings everyone together to help fight back against this horrible disease. “At this kickoff, we were lucky enough to have Ithacappella perform a few songs for us while we had some laptops lined up for people to sign up,” says Co-President of CAC, Jeannine Florio. If you haven't signed up yet, sign up today

With Spring Break quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking about warm weather! Here are some fun facts about Spring Break to get you in the right mindset, thanks to dosomething.org!
• 1.5 million students go on Spring Break every year, collectively spending over one billion dollars. • The number one U.S. Spring Break destination is Daytona Beach, Florida.
• Aside from trips to the beach, many sport and travel agencies offer unthinkable deals for college students to spend their Spring Break on a ski or snowboard trip - hardly what us Ithacans would be interested in!
• Last year more than 10,000 high school and college students signed up to spend their Spring Breaks building houses with Habitat for Humanity.
• When teens go abroad for Spring Break, it’s easy to forget that foreign laws are extremely serious. 2,600 Americans are arrested on Spring Break overseas every year.

Recyclemania
The Resource and Environment Management Program, or REMP, is helping to host
Recyclemania, an inter-collegiate competition designed to
promote waste reduction
activities. Over an 8-week period each spring, colleges across the United States and Canada report the amount of recycling and trash collected each week and are in turn ranked in various categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis, as well as which schools have the best recycling rate as a percentage of total waste and which schools generate the least amount of combined trash and recycling. If you're interested, check out their website or contact Emily Smith, an Eco-Representative.
