Flex System Software Installation

These notes give step-by-step instructions for installing and upgrading Flex System Software Version 5.2 on Flex Ultra™ and Flex Ultra™ HR systems. Installation consists of these general steps:

● Verifying the Unibrain FireBoardBlue™ Card License on page 1.

● Installing Flex System Software on page 2.

● Running the Validation Utility on page 2.

● Configuring Rework Stations on page 3.

Verifying the Unibrain FireBoardBlue™ Card

License

If you will be installing or upgrading a Flex Inspection Station or Combined Inspection and Rework Station, verify that the Unibrain FireBoardBlue card license is valid. For installation options that do not include an Inspection station (programming station and offline rework station), skip this step.

1. Download the guidcheck.exe file from CyberOptics and copy it to the Flex System. 2. Double-click on the file to run the program.

If the results are anything other than “Compliant,” contact CyberOptics to order a Unibrain FireBoardBlue card. Install the card before continuing with the installation.

Configuring Rework Stations

Rework can be configured as single- or dual-stage. In single-stage rework, one station is intended for both reviewing and repairing inspection results. In dual-stage rework, one station is dedicated to reviewing the full results of the Flex inspection and another station is dedicated to repairing the defects.

Rework configuration options include:

Single review/repair station: This option sets up the station to both review and repair defects. It can be configured on a combined Inspection and Rework station, but more commonly is located on an offline Rework station.

Stage 1: Review-for-repair station: This option sets up the station to review defects and then pass them on to the offline repair station. It can be configured on a combined Inspection and Rework station or on a separate offline Rework station.

Stage 2: Offline repair station: This option sets up the station to display defects needing repair. The Offline repair station is always configured on an offline Rework station.
