• Is based on the proven IBM® MDM platform, and is implemented as a new MDM domain and stewardship UI for managing enterprise reference data.

• Is a robust, ready-to-run application for managing reference data. Reference data management function is configurable via the UI to minimize the need for development to support ongoing reference data changes.

• Enables centralized management of reference data with strong governance, security, audit, and process control around authoring, changing, and usage of reference data. This is increasingly important for reporting accuracy and can help with regulatory compliance.

• Helps reduce the risk of errors associated with manual, ad hoc processes for managing reference data (for example, someone loading the wrong version of a reference data spreadsheet or file into a process).

Overview

The InfoSphere Master Data Management (MDM) Reference Data Management Hub solution is now available as part of InfoSphere Master Data Management V10. It delivers a master data management approach to managing enterprise reference data and helps reduce business risk, improve enterprise data quality, and enhance operational efficiency.

InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub is built on the proven InfoSphere MDM platform. It has been implemented as a new master data domain with its own data model, services, and stewardship UI for managing enterprise reference data. Designed for business users, the intuitive UI and flexible data model help ensure a quick implementation and minimize the need for ongoing IT involvement.

Reference data, as reflected in the code tables, such as country code, state code, gender code, and so on, is used to categorize other data. Code tables are found in every enterprise application, from back-end systems through front-end commerce applications to the data warehouse. When integrating data across applications, you need to distinguish among the different code table representations to categorize

data in a consistent way. Many enterprises struggle to keep track of reference data, often using spreadsheets and error-prone manual processes to record and manage changes to reference data sets and mappings.

InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub offers a robust MDM solution for centralized management and distribution of reference data within the enterprise. Features include:

• Easy import and export of reference data to and from the hub

• Versioning and lifecycle management for reference data sets and mappings • Role-based UIs for review, approval, and publishing of reference data changes • Centralized audit, security, and stewardship processes related to reference data

management and distribution

• Reference data defined and managed as an enterprise standard

• Mappings maintained among different application-specific representations of reference data used within the enterprise (for example, mappings of reference data codes necessary for loading data into a data warehouse)

• Management of reference data placed in the hands of business users, thereby reducing the burden on IT and improving the overall quality of data used across the organization

InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub integrates with and complements IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary and the broader portfolio of IBM Information Management products.

The InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub solution is offered via two separate industry-specific chargeable components:

Description

InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub:

• Delivers a central repository for managing canonical and external forms of reference data and the mappings between these forms.

• Uses the InfoSphere MDM Custom Domain Hub platform frameworks and services for security, business rules, data quality, and deduplication processes, events, notifications, audit, and history.

• Offers reference data maintenance services that support creation, maintenance, and search of reference data sets and the reference data values within those sets.

• Includes import and distribution services that support import and distribution of reference data in multiple formats.

• Delivers transcoding services that support the mapping and transformation of data from one application representation to another.

• Using the Hub UI, enables business users to define:

– New reference data sets and manage reference data standards without significant IT intervention. The UI provides stewardship flows and data governance controls.

– Canonical reference data sets, maintain the values within those sets, and define the mappings between reference data sets. Users can also search, view, create, update, delete, and import reference data values.

Major functions addressed through the InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub UI include:

• Reference data sets: Business users and data stewards can create new sets, edit existing sets, delete unwanted sets, and manage versions of the reference data sets and set hierarchies. Users can also enter reference values and translation values for the sets.

• Mappings: Maps define the relationships between reference data sets and the reference data values within those sets, thereby relating associated data in multiple reference data sets. Within the UI, business users and data stewards can create maps between different sets and versions of sets, edit existing maps, delete unwanted maps, compare maps, and manage versions of the maps. • Managed systems: Managed systems are references to external systems that

represent the suppliers and consumers of the reference data defined within the Reference Data Management Hub. Within the UI, users can specify the relevant properties of the managed system to enable communication between the managed system and the hub.

• Administration: Administrators can define and manage the data types and associated attributes that are used by mappings and reference data sets. • Custom page: A custom page is an extension of the UI that supports custom

functions for your organization. These functions can be defined programmatically using HTML, JavaScript, or JavaTM_{. The Reference Data Management Web}

Services interface supports Reference Data Management UI function out of the box. This interface is fully documented and available to developers so that custom UI function can incorporate calls directly to the Reference Data Management Web Services interface.

• Search: The Reference Data Management Hub supports a range of intelligent search and filter options that help users locate reference data values and

entities. Users can use the wild card character % to substitute for characters. For example, searching for RDM% would locate objects beginning with the characters RDM; searching for %SUB% would locate objects containing the characters SUB embedded within the name.

Examples of drivers for managing reference data include:

• Banking: Banks face the challenge of distributing reference data changes to downstream applications and then assessing what applications are impacted by a reference data change. The subscription model of InfoSphere Reference Data Management Hub makes it possible to assess what applications are impacted by a particular reference data set change.

In European countries you can choose a version of the NACE industry

classification codes unique to the country as the national standard. Banks with operations in multiple countries must manage individual national NACE code sets and reconcile the differences across countries. The InfoSphere Reference Data Management Hub solution allows different versions of the NACE codes to be managed from a central point, thereby simplifying the creation of mappings among different versions and supporting transcoding values across the data sets. • Healthcare: The US government has mandated that healthcare payers and

providers must switch from using ICD-9 codes to using ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures by October 2013. Although no one-to-one mapping between the ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes exists, InfoSphere Reference Data Management Hub supports central management of ICD standards and maps as well as definition of company-specific mapping schemes.

• Cross-industry: Loading data into a data warehouse or an MDM hub typically requires reconciling reference data from multiple sources. InfoSphere MDM

Reference Data Management Hub supports the loading and publishing of reference data map files for batch and load jobs.

Upgrades, migrations, and trade-ups

With this release of InfoSphere MDM, Reference Data Management Hub function is included as a feature of InfoSphere MDM Custom Domain Hub Standalone V10. Existing customers with entitlement to this offering are automatically entitled to the InfoSphere Reference Data Management Hub function under the License and Subscription and Support terms. InfoSphere MDM Custom Domain Standalone V10 customers can obtain the Reference Data Management feature by downloading it from Passport Advantage® .

Charge metrics definitions Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology and the number of processors made available to the Program. The processor technology is defined within the PVU Table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at

IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. For example, a dual-core processor chip has two processor cores.

Licensee can deploy the Program using either Full Capacity licensing or Virtualization Capacity (Capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage

Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to the following website). If using Full Sub-Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1_{in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed}

by the Program, except for those servers from which the Program has been permanently removed. If using Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the Program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at

Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, in addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.

Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.

A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program

as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed. IBM InfoSphere MDM Reference Data Management Hub is licensed on a PVU basis. Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. RVU entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of RVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The RVU entitlements are specific to the program and may include, but are not limited to the following: Client Devices, data source records, messages, and servers, and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of RVU licensing, and to determine how many RVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

Note: All chargeable components, except IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Custom Domain Hub Stand Alone, are licensed on an RVU basis.
