1 Introduction

1.1 About the document

The Software Change Notice describes the prerequisites, resolved PARs, applicable nodes, and steps to install/uninstall the patch. Additionally, the SCN contains information about the change impact and additional information for this patch. The latest version of this SCN is always

available on the Honeywell Process Solutions website.

1.2 About the patch

This patch addresses problems and offers improvements requested since the release of Experion R410.1. It can be installed on Experion HS R410.1 systems.

1.2.1 Problems resolved

This patch resolves the following issues.

Applicable only if required for systems needing the enhancement

1-YX831K Download/Export When requested to present user credential for downloading, user can cancel log on dialog and still download successfully. 1-WQCHIL Download/Export Default download option should be

"Download Modified Items" instead of "Download All".

1-PCIVB9 Property Sheets Enhancement to the addressing range for the HC900 Universal Modbus Interface to allow access to 32k addresses using a single virtual controller.

1-URNA7T Property Sheets Need to be able to configure Control Inhibit and Journal Only flags for a point from Quick Builder.

To verify the present version on the node, perform the following steps. 1. Start Quick Builder

1.3.7 Copying and extracting the patch

Copy the software patch package to a temporary directory on the node where install is applicable. There are 3 files in the patch package:

 ApplyUpdate.bat

 ApplyUpdate.vbs

 Experion_R410_QBP_Patch3.msp

After the installation of this patch the following changes are expected.

2 Patch installation

Patch Installation will require the user to log on to the system using an account with membership in the Windows administrators group.

2.1 Installing the patch on Non-Redundant Server

2.1.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure no instances of Quick Builder are running and qckbld folder is closed.

2. If you are running in the node of Remote Engineering and Station Server, you may need to open Task Manager and check there is no instance of qckbld.exe running for all users.

3. Start the Experion PKS Services Control Panel program (from <install_drive>\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion PKS\Utilities\SSServices\SSServices.exe). Once started, select “Stop All services” and click OK to stop all Experion services.

2.1.2 To install the patch

1. Navigate to the software patch package in Windows Explorer and right-click

“ApplyUpdate.bat” and select “Run as administrator”. The software patch installer will start and installation wizard appears.

2. If User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes

3. Choose “OK” button after apply update ‘QBP Patch3’ dialog appears.

4. Follow the prompts and complete the wizard. The install may take a few minutes. 5. Click OK to close the dialog.

Notes:

If the software patch installer reports that some programs must be closed before installing, click “OK” to accept this and let the installer to terminate these programs. Otherwise, click “Cancel” to abort installation.

2.1.3 To validate the patch installation

To verify the successful installation of the patch:

1. Using Notepad, open the ProductVersion.txt file located in the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion PKS\ProductVersion.txt

2.1.4 Post-installation tasks

1. Start all Experion services.

2. Run Quick Builder from Configuration Studio and the migration wizard will appear. Follow the wizard instructions and the database will be migrated to the latest version.

2.2 Installing the patch on Redundant Server Systems

2.2.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure the Primary and Backup Server databases are synchronized before proceeding 2. Ensure Quick Builder is not running on any nodes and ensure not to run Quick Builder

on any nodes before finishing the patch installation on both primary and backup servers.

2.2.2 To install the patch

1. On the backup server, run the software patch installation procedure for a non-redundant server system

2. Synchronize primary and backup server databases

3. Fail over the primary server to the backup server. The backup server will become primary and the primary server become backup

4. Run the software patch installation procedure for a non-redundant server system on the new backup server

5. Synchronize primary and backup server databases.

2.2.3 To validate the patch installation

To verify the successful installation of the patch:

2.3.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure no instances of Quick Builder are running and qckbld folder is closed. 2. If you are running in the node of Remote Engineering and Station Server, you may

3 Patch removal

3.1 Removing the patch from Non-Redundant Server

3.1.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure no instances of Quick Builder are running and qckbld folder is closed. 2. If you are running in the node of Remote Engineering and Station Server, you may

need to open Task Manager and check there is no instance of qckbld.exe running for all users.

3. Start the Experion PKS Services Control Panel program (from <install_drive>\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion

PKS\Utilities\SSServices\SSServices.exe). Once started, select “Stop All services” and click OK to stop all Experion services.

3.1.2 To remove the patch

1. Navigate to “Start -> All Programs -> Honeywell Experion PKS, select the Maintenance Tool and run same with Administrator privilege.

2. Click on “View\Uninstall Experion Updates”

3. Locate the patch to uninstall and click on the “Remove” button. 4. Follow the prompts on screen to uninstall the patch.

5. Once the uninstallation completed, an uninstallation successfully completed dialog box will popup.

6. If prompted, restart the machine.

3.1.3 To validate the patch removal

To verify the successful un-installation of the patch:

1. Using Notepad, open the ProductVersion.txt file located in the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion PKS\ProductVersion.txt

2. Verify that the file contains an entry starting with:

3.2 Removing the patch from Redundant Server Systems

3.2.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure the Primary and Backup Server databases are synchronized before proceeding.

2. Ensure Quick Builder is not running on any nodes and ensure not to run Quick Builder on any nodes before finishing the patch installation on both primary and backup servers.

3.2.2 To remove the patch

1. On the backup server, run the software patch un-installation procedure for a non-redundant server system.

2. Synchronize primary and backup server databases.

3. Fail over the primary server to the backup server. The backup server will become primary and the primary server become backup.

4. Run the software patch un-installation procedure for a non-redundant server system on the new backup server.

5. Synchronize primary and backup server databases.

3.2.3 To validate the patch removal

To verify the successful un-installation of the patch:

1. Using Notepad, open the ProductVersion.txt file located in the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion PKS\ProductVersion.txt

3.3 Removing the patch from Flex Station

3.3.1 To stop the services

1. Ensure no instances of Quick Builder are running and qckbld folder is closed. 2. If you are running in the node of Remote Engineering and Station Server, you may
