IDEA Installation – Citrix Prerequisites
1) Citrix Presentation server v4.5 Installed and configured 2) Citrix Client software installed on Client machines
3) Caseware IDEA v8 Network CD and valid dongle (License manager installed and configured)
IDEA Installation
Due to a fact that Citrix is nothing more than Windows Terminal Services on steroids,
most of the installation process for any application, including IDEA, follows terminal
Services guidelines.
1) Open Command Prompt via Start>Run and typing ‘cmd’ and pressing Enter key
2) Set the Terminal Service mode to install by typing the following command change user /install in the command prompt window and pressing Enter key.
3) Now that the Citrix Presentation Server is ready to accept new applications go to Start>Control
Panel>Add/Remove Programs and click on Add New Programs / CD or Floppy and browse to the location of the IDEA v8 installation program and select setup.exe .
4) Click Next to proceed with IDEA installation and follow the prompts from IDEA installer.
5) Make sure you follow the instructions (by Terminal Service Installer and by IDEA MSI installer) on the screen exactly.

6) Enter the IP Address of the machine hosting the Network Dongle and its License Manager.
7) Once the Installation is completed and all the steps are followed exactly, you can exit the Terminal Services ‘Install’ mode and go back to the default ‘Execute’ mode.
8) Now that the Installation is completed successfully, let’s create some user accounts that will be
allowed to use IDEA.
9) Go To: Start>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Local Users and Groups> and right click on ‘Users’ Folder and select ‘New User…’
10) Create new user and give it default User group permissions (this depends on the security
policies of your organization. In our case it is our test environment setup only – Not Production).
11) Now you are ready to publish Caseware IDEA to all Citrix users.
IDEA Publishing – Citrix Access Management Console
1) Open Citrix Access Management Console via Start>Programs>Citrix and clicking on ‘Citrix Access Management Console’ application link.
2) Once the Console is successfully launched and connection is made to your Citrix Farm, Expand Presentation Server>Citrix Farm and click on Applications folder.

11) Click ‘Next’ to complete the task of publishing the Application.
Executing IDEA via Citrix Client

2) Once logged in, you will notice that the IDEA Icon will appear on your Desktop, under Start>Programs and in your Citrix Programs Neighborhood folder (as we have select all 3 locations during publishing process).
3) Open the IDEA Application software by double clicking its Icon or selecting it from Start>Programs or Citrix Programs Neighborhood menus.
4) If all the prerequisites are met and all of the installation and publication steps are performed correctly, your IDEA Application software should open smoothly.
