I love you, O LORD, my strength,
O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. + My God, my rock of refuge,
my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!
Praised be the LORD, I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies. + The LORD lives! And blessed be my rock!
Extolled be God my savior.
You who gave great victories to your king and showed kindness to your anointed. +

Moses spoke to the people, saying:
“Fear the LORD, your God,
and keep, throughout the days of your lives,
all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you, and thus have long life.
Hear then, Israel, and be careful to observe them, that you may grow and prosper the more,
in keeping with the promise of the LORD, the God of your fathers, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone!
Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today.”
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
se c o n d re a d I n G Hebrews 7:23-28 Brothers and sisters:
The levitical priests were many
because they were prevented by death from remaining in office, but Jesus, because he remains forever,
has a priesthood that does not pass away.
Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.
It was fitting that we should have such a high priest:
holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, higher than the heavens.
He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day,
first for his own sins and then for those of the people;
he did that once for all when he offered himself.
For the law appoints men subject to weakness to be high priests, but the word of the oath, which was taken after the law, appoints a son,
who has been made perfect forever.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord;
and my father will love him and we will come to him.

Go s P e l Mark 12:28b-34 One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
‘He is One and there is no other than he.’
And ‘to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself’
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him,
“You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
At the words that follow, up to and including “and became man,” all bow:
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The reception of Holy Communion is the most sacred act for Catholics. We believe that we are then receiving the Body and Blood of Christ. Catholics who are properly prepared should approach the ministers of Holy Communion.
We ask non-Catholics not to receive. They are encouraged, however, to come forward with arms crossed over their heart to receive a blessing.

Beloved, let us love one another: For love is from God;
And everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God.
He who does not love, does not know God; For God is love.
In this we have come to know His love, that He lay down His life for us, And we likewise ought to lay down our life for our brethren.
Beloved, let us love one another: For God is love.

Hail, O Queen, Mother of mercy; our life, our sweetness, and our hope: hail!
To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee we send up our sighs, groaning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Hasten therefore, our Advocate, and turn your merciful eyes toward us.
And show us Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb, after this exile.
O merciful, O pious, O sweet Virgin Mary.

As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including the intention of confessing as soon as possible (Code of Canon Law, canon 916). A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.
fo r o u r f e l l o W ch r I s T I a n s
We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen and finally disappear, in keeping with Christ’s prayer for us “that they may all be one” (John 17:21).
Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 §4).
Members of Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Polish National Catholic Church are urged to respect the discipline of their own Churches. According to Roman Catholic Discipline, the Code of Canon Law does not object to the reception of Communion by Christians of these Churches (canon 844 §3).

All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.
fo r n o n- ch r I s T I a n s
We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ.
While we cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.
