IN MEMORIAM
We respectfully and lovingly dedicate our 2019 summer concert to the memory of our wonderful, dear friend, Suzanne LaHaye.
Suzanne was a long-time member of the ECCBC, and has participated faithfully in every production since 2002 ~ 17 years!
The ECCBC Family was very important to Suzanne and we loved her very much. We thank the LaHaye Family for sharing her with us and
we join them in celebrating and reflecting on all of the ways she so
profoundly impacted the world around her.

ers from across the country, the group was directed by Dr. James Haygood and world- renowned choral conductor John Rutter.
The ECCBC has enjoyed much success since 1990. Membership in the organization has grown to over 180. For any given concert there may be as few as forty or as many as eighty of those members performing on stage. For many, the rehearsal season provides a wholesome social activity and an opportunity to meet new friends.
The organization adds to the uniqueness of this city. Very few American cities the size of Eunice have a musical organization such as the ECCBC.
We are proud of all that we have done and look forward to serving the Eunice area with quality, family programs for many years to come. z

THE
The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir, Inc. was organized in February of 1990 with the intent to promote vocal and instrumen- tal music in Eunice and the surrounding area.
The organization is open to anyone who en- joys and appreciates vocal and instrumental music. There are no auditions or dues. We de- pend solely on the contributions of merchants and individuals and provide two concerts each year, July and December. The organization is operated by volunteers and pays no salaries.
In the last twenty-nine years the band and choir has produced fifty-eight concerts. Also during these twenty-nine years, we have pro- vided music for: Eunice July Fourth celebra- tions, LSUE commencement exercises, city inaugurations, Eunice Centennial Celebration (performing an original work by Dr. Quincy Hilliard, ASCAP, commissioned by the EC- CBC for the celebration), LSUE commu- nity fun days, Eunice Christmas celebrations, and presented concerts in Crowley, Oak- dale, Ville Platte, Lafayette and New Iberia.
Several members of the community choir participated in a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1994. Joining sing-

OUR LOGO
In 1992, the ECCBC commissioned the University of Lou- isiana at Lafayette art department to create a logo for the or- ganization. After a meeting with Dwight Jodon, Pat Doss- man and the department, approximately fifteen art students set about the task of designing an appropriate ensignia.
Several of the proposed designs centered around the organization’s acronymn, ECCBC. However, the winning design was a simple graphic. It symbolizes the semicircle staging used by musical en- sembles globally. The image is one in motion as the conductor’s baton sweeps across the design. This particular logo was selected because of its simplicity and because the ECCBC is determined to move forward into the future with the mission of sharing the gift of music with the residents of Acadiana.
We are proud to celebrate our twenty-ninth birthday this year, and are excited about our future. It is our desire that this logo become...a mark of excellence!
SUCCESS STARTS HERE.

Ocean Trivia
h Our oceans cover more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface.
d The majority of life on Earth is aquatic.
k Less than five percent of the planet’s oceans have been explored.
; The world’s longest mountain chain is underwater.
q There are more historic artifacts under the sea than in all of the world’s museums.
r We still only know a fraction of the marine species in our oceans.
t Over 70 percent of our planet’s oxygen is produced by the ocean.
i It’s possible to find rivers and lakes beneath the ocean.
u The Pacific Ocean is the world’s largest ocean and contains around 25,000 islands.
x Ocean water moves in large circular patterns called gyres. The Gulf Stream, which moves from Florida to the North Atlantic Ocean, is an example of a gyre.
C O Thermohaline currents move from the surface of the water down to the ocean floor and back.
T Polar water is more dense because molecules travel closer together and
because of salt crystals in the water.

Growing up in St. Landry Parish, Ted was always appreciative of the look of the old buildings and structures that dotted the South Louisiana landscape.
After retiring from being a Junior High Science and Art teacher, Ted began to focus on creating paintings of some of these beautiful old Cajun homes and farms that seem to be quickly disappearing.
After having been encouraged by his wife, Ava, and friends Ted began to show in different venues in South Louisiana and now has the honor to have a gallery in the town of Sunset which shows the work of Anne Matt and Catherine Myers as well as his own works. Every month the gallery showcases the work of a guest artist and opens each month with an open house event to introduce that particular guest artist.

Catherine Myers
Anne Matte currently resides in Sunset, Louisiana with her husband and son. She has been doing some form of art for as long as she can remember. She loves acrylic painting in realism but also likes watercolor, pastel and oils.
Her art is inspired by nature, her Louisiana roots and her family. Not only her own but also her artist family and community.

Her family roots are here in Cajun country and she currently resides in Opelousas. She is a self taught artist who is passionate about creating beautiful works of art that reflect her love of people, animals and nature.
The ECCBC is pleased to feature the works of local artists in the Liberty Center Annex.
