SCHOOL PROSPECTUS
Datamine Technical Business School is a tertiary institution of higher learning, Accredited and licensed the National Council for higher Education and fully recognized by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the republic of Uganda.
It is an affiliate college of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and therefore authorized to conduct particular business Courses on behalf of MUBS in an arrangement referred to as external admission.
HISTORY
Established in 2003 as a humble school of computer technology offering certificates in Computer Applications and internet services at in rented premises at Wandegeya. The school later began offering more technical courses in Computer repair , Networking and Systems administration and also a some practical business courses at Both Diploma and Certificate level and there by becoming the pioneer of Technical Business Education in Uganda since at the time there were no institutions in the country that offered the particular type of training.
Three years down the road Datamine had already acquired its own and Permanent home located on plot 291 Block 9 Batvalley Crescent off Bombo road.
Having fulfilled the national requirements and standards expected of Tertiary institution, in 2007 Datamine received full accreditation by the National Council For Higher Education of the Republic of Uganda and there by becoming a fully recognized Diploma and Certificate awarding institution in Uganda
Datamine throughout the years has had numerous affiliations with some of the country’s leading Universities of which the most outstanding is the Makerere University Business School that through Datamine trains students with and on behalf of MUBS.\

OUTREACH:
Datamine portrays itself as a benchmark of the country’s vocational Training rejuvenation with the obligation to champion social, political and economic change in society through professional training and extension of social responsibility to communities
For the Datamine to achieve the above state it is working hard to put and also maintain in place the following:
• Well-defined and researched programs that satisfy both the academic and development interests of individuals and societies.
• Extension of Educational services to remote communities through creating study centers such as Kumi Study center in KUMI District
• Arranging holiday training programs which aim at enabling employees such Primary and Secondary school teachers whose tight school programs do not allow them time off for capacity building during term sessions.
• Maintaining affordable school dues despite being a self financed school without any external sponsors of donors.
• Partnering with several family helper Governmental and Non Governmental Organizations to enable disadvantaged families afford descent education.
• Offering free Computer training to primary school teachers in order to enable them compete in this highly computerized generation.
• Datamine farther sees its Extension and Outreach function as an interface between research and training that would make the school relevant to societal needs and national development.
Datamine within that context has registered success in a number of ways for instance:

To offer vocational skills and business training on a sustainable basis for self-reliance.
OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION
1. To provide highly marketable skills and specialized training to our students and organizations and give an added advantage in the competitive labor market
2. To create employment to the population directly and indirectly as a contribution towards curbing unemployment in the country especially among the youth
3. To enhance access to the market contestable skills to the Ugandan population that would otherwise be accessible to a few people

Datamine boasts of thousands of men and women who have gone through its hands and are out Employed in various public and private organizations though still a many more have managed establish their own businesses and companies and are doing very well.
We have an impeccable team of enthusiastic and versatile instructors and researchers who are up to date with today’s innovations principally in the field of ICT, Business and vocational training and because of them we have managed to sail this far with our flag raised high up.

In the quest to extend technical Education to all over the country Datamine hopes to establish campuses in all regions and currently has two branches namely Kampala (the Main Branch on Bombo Road ) and at Masaka (on Elgin street) .

Datamine has had a strong belief in the use of Information Communications Technology (ICT) to addressing Uganda’s major development challenges particularly poverty and unemployment. The promoters of Datamine were intrigued by the magnitude of graduate unemployment and established that the burgeoning graduate unemployment is largely attributed to the miss match and disconnect between demand and supply of skills.
Datamine confronts this challenge by blending technical with business training together with ICT to produce a student with multiple skills required to create own employment.
