BDRS is a fully managed three tiered hybrid-cloud solution that incorporates an appliance based local backup, RetroFit Technologies’ Datacenter and

Microsoft’s Azure Cloud.

BDRS provides image based backups, block-level de-duplication, and data compression to an onsite appliance. It is backed up nightly, via an encrypted tunnel, to RetroFit Technologies’ Datacenter . The nightly backups are then recompressed, de-duped and moved to Microsoft’s Azure Cloud for Geo-redundancy.

With this combination of local and cloud-based backup, any file, folder, server or other data deleted from the primary server can be quickly restored from the most up to date local backup, the nightly Datacenter Backup; or ultimately from the Cloud.

The RetroFit BDRS serves as a local business continuity solution, providing a stand-in of one or more Windows servers in the event of hardware failure.

(7)

BDRS financial advantages:

• Minimum upfront fees

• No CAPEX for a top tier on site appliance • Predictable, Competitive fixed monthly cost • Fully Managed

• BDRS provides you the flexibility to move easily to the next level of appliance

• No Exchange Servers

Spend less time installing, managing, fixing and maintaining your Exchange servers. Spend more time rolling out advanced features and capabilities to your end users.

• Site Outage <> Email Downtime (well mostly)

A site outage (Power or internet) no longer means downtime to your email, Sharepoint, Lync implementations. Even if your site goes dark permanently, you will always be able to access your cloud services from anywhere you end up.

(13)

• Standardize productivity applications.

Ensure the same version of Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint (and, if you need them, Project and Visio) across your entire user community.

• Communicate anytime, from anywhere with any

device.

Really, Lync rocks!

(14)
(15)
(16)
(17)
(18)

• If you are attempting to leverage existing investments in

productivity software (office) you must compare the installs

of your entire user community to the compatibility matrix

provided by Microsoft for Office 365.

• Ensure that you have a roadmap that indicates what

applications will be necessary for your users. Some of the

Office 365 licensing will not include advanced applications

like Project and Visio. Upgrading is not straight forward, so

ensure that you know what you are committing to so you can

avoid costly rip and replace upgrades.

(19)

• Be sure that your on premises infrastructure is at a functional

level and software release that corresponds to Microsoft’s

compatibility matrix.

Attempting to migrate to Office 365 with outdated on

premises infrastructure can create significant issues that

must be resolved prior to a staged migration or cutover.

Migration options

• Migration

– IMAP migration

• Supports wide range of email platforms

• Email only (no calendar, contacts, or tasks)

– Cutover Exchange migration

• Good for fast, cutover migrations

• No Exchange upgrade required on-premises

– Staged Exchange migration

• No Exchange upgrade required on-premises

• Identity federation with on-premises directory

• Not just migration

– Hybrid deployment

• Manage users on-premises and online

• Enables cross-premises calendaring,

smooth migration, and easy off-boarding

Cutover vs. Staged

Cutover

• Cutover is designed for small/fast migrations to Office 365

• As the name sounds it’s an “all at once” move

• Limited to a maximum of 1000 mailboxes total

• Mailbox and address book data is synced from on-premises to

Exchange Online using Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTPS)

Staged

• Staged uses the same migration engine as cutover but in

conjunction with Office 365

directory synchronization to allow you to move a few users at a time

• Mailbox data is copied via Outlook Anywhere

• Users/contacts and groups are synchronized via Directory Sync • Exchange 2010 and later are not

What is Microsoft Azure?

What is Azure?

In short, it’s Microsoft’s cloud platform: a growing collection

of complimentary services—compute, storage, data,

(30)

It’s IaaS + PaaS

Azure is the only major cloud platform ranked by Gartner as an industry leader for both infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS). This powerful combination of managed and unmanaged services lets you build, deploy, and manage applications any way you like for

unmatched productivity.

It’s hybrid ready

Some cloud providers make you choose between your datacenter and the public cloud. Not Azure. Its enterprise-proven hybrid cloud solutions give you the best of both worlds, expanding your IT options without added complexity. With Azure, data storage, backup, and recovery become more efficient and economical. It’s also easier to build applications that span both on-premises and the cloud.

(31)

It’s open and flexible

Azure supports any operating system, language, tool, and framework— from Windows to Linux, SQL Server to Oracle, C# to Java. It puts the best of

Windows and Linux ecosystems at your fingertips, so you can build great applications and services that work with every device.

It’s always up, always on

You’ll share the same enterprise-tested platform that powers Skype, Office 365, Bing, and Xbox. Azure offers a 99.95% availability SLA, 24x7 tech support, and round-the-clock service health monitoring. That’s why more than 57% of Fortune 500 companies rely on Azure today. Live streaming Olympic events to online multiplayer online games

(32)

It’s economical and scalable

Azure can quickly scale up or down to match demand, so you only pay for what you use. Per-minute billing and a commitment to match competitor prices for popular infrastructure services like compute, storage and

bandwidth means you’re always getting unbeatable price for performance.

It’s everywhere

Azure runs on a growing global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters across 13 regions, giving you a wide range of options for running applications and ensuring your customers always get great performance. Azure is the first multinational cloud provider in mainland China and is continuing to expand to new regions around the globe.
