The DSR-6100 will be automatically tuned to the designated network at the time of authorization.

Front Panel Step 3: Check for the latest firmware version.

Automatic upgrade via satellite is a background process that starts at signal lock.

Front panel programming can be done while updated firmware code is loading.

These are the version displays from a unit that has finished an upgrade to 1EA.

during boot up DSR-6100 menu → Install → FIRMWARE → High (read only)

1EA or higher/newer firmware version is required for ESPN Networks broadcast on Galaxy 14 Transponders 9 and 14.

Additional Details:

After making required connections, connect to AC power and allow the unit to boot up.

When a new unit first boots up after being plugged in, this appears on the front panel, for a few seconds.

This example shows firmware version “1E6”. (Ignore the digits after the decimal point.) When a unit is up and running, an “Install” menu labeled “Firmware” has the version.

From the main/DSR-6100 menu, move the cursor to “Install” and press ENTER.

Press the ▲ arrow button until the “FIRMWARE” menu appears.

The field labeled “High” is the current version.

Final Step: Have installed units authorized for ESPN Networks.

Download and Activation Process:

30 minutes is the typical amount of time a firmware code download can take to complete.

During the ~30 minute download, you can leave the front panel menu display on any menu except the main/DSR-6100 menu.

Once the unit reboots to utilize 1EA code, it will revert to this main/DSR-6100 menu, easily showing us exactly when it is ready to be authorized. See page 5 for more details on confirming required firmware.

Call Motorola @ 1-800-308-6272 Monday through Friday, for authorization.

Have your unit addresses ready (page 3).

Hours: 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Eastern 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific

The ESPN rollout authorization center will be closed for major holidays.

The “AUTHORIZED” LED will illuminate, once authorization is completed.

PID Values (DSR-6100 and Old/legacy DSR values)

DSR-6100: MPEG Program ID = 2 Video = 2049/0801

Audio = 2050/0802 DPI = 2069/0815

(decimal/hexadecimal)

Old/legacy MPEG2 HD PMT: MPEG Program ID = 1 Video = 7680/1E00

Audio = 4128/1020 DPI = 4288/10C0

NEW PID VALUES FOR ESPN NETWORKS IN MPEG2 HIGH DEFINITION

MPEG2 High Definition ESPN Services from a DSR-6100 use new PIDs (updated PMT), when compared with DSR product previously used for ESPN services in HD.

This may require re-configuration/re-grooming of the service through downstream equipment to maintain ESPN Networks in MPEG2 HD using the DSR-6100.
