Government guidelines
recommend that children are
kept away from school for
48
hours
from the last episode of
diarrhoea or
vomiting. This is to avoid
spreading infections.
Wendell Park will be following these
guidelines
effective immediately.
If you have any questions, please speak to
your class teacher or a Senior Leader.
Please can you
dress your child
appropriately for
the changeable
weather and
ensure that they
have brought
their coats with
them to school.
We have a set procedure for children being collected at the end of the day/or after school:
If parents inform the school in writing that it is acceptable, children in Years 5 and 6 may go home unaccompanied
Children can be collected by the parents/carers that are on the school database (parents complete this when they join the school but can add names if you wish at the school office).
If you know in advance that you want someone else to pick up your child please tell the teacher OR phone the school office.
If you get held up at the last minute please try to call the school office. If this is not possible we will use professional judgement about letting children go with another adult:
For example – if you are delayed after an appointment and have been unable to phone us but a friend (who is also a parent we know) is aware of the situation and offers to collect your child.
We will usually try to call you to check this is OK. We cannot let children go with an adult we do not
recognise at the last minute unless you call us or we are able to call you.
Children cannot be collected and taken home by brothers/sisters in Year 5 or 6.
Please remember that our first priority
is to keep children safe.
It was so lovely to see children coming into school wearing the correct uniform.
Please remember that black shoes must be worn. Reminder: our PE kit is a plain white t-shirt, dark shorts or tracksuit bottoms, black plimsolls for indoor
PE and plain trainers for outside PE. No coloured trainers or football kit
should be worn. REMINDER:
Any child who is off for more than two days in a row must be
provided with a medical certificate. Please hand these in to the School Office.
When we shook our ice cream
cones, they made a noise as
we filled them with beans. They
all smelt lovely as we used
different smelling leaves,
such as bay leaves.
We decorated them with coloured material which made them look appetising. We all had a great time and we cannot wait to go back to do some
more artwork! :)

Year One had an amazing time at Kite Studios on Monday! We made

Cordialement,
Merci de rayer les mentions inutiles.

For our assembly on Remembrance Day, we used a quiz to demonstrate some of the surprising and
shocking things that happened during one of the most tragic conflicts in history. For example, did you know that an explosion on the battlefield in France could be heard all in the way in London? We then showed
everyone what it was like to be a soldier in the First World War by reading some of our fantastic creative writing, using lots of amazing
adjectives to paint a vivid picture. We have also thought about the
best ways to show our respect. In Britain we observe a silence and also wear poppies.
Not only did we perform a wonderful poppy poem, we also showed off a magnificent
memorial picture of Wendell Park, based on the poppies that were placed on the Tower of London last year. We used oil pastel and black paper to make the school stand out and made 101 poppies, one for every year it has been since the war.
We finished our assembly by singing “We Shall Remember”, a song which we hope will help children to
