Arm and Disarm

Arm:

To arm all sensors in AWAY mode when you are leaving the premises, press [Arm Away].

To arm in STAY mode when you are not leaving the premises, press [Arm Stay].

Quick Exit:

When the system is armed, Quick Exit will temporarily disarm protected doors for 60 seconds to allow you to exit before the system is re-armed.

To initiate Quick Exit, press [Quick Exit].

Disarm:

To disarm, press [Disarm] + [security code].

Bypass Protected Areas

Bypassing a zone allows you to arm your system with certain protected areas intentionally unarmed or to access a protected area when the system is armed.

Press [Bypass All] + [Security Code]

Battery

In case of the loss of A/C power, the SmartThings hub will operate for a limited time on a 3.7V

To replace the backup battery:

1. Place your system in Test mode.

a. Open your SmartThings mobile app b. From the Dashboard, tap HOME SECURITY

c. Tap the gear icon d. Tap SYSTEM TEST

e. Follow the on-screen instructions

2. Remove the mounting screw on the bottom of the Hub.

3. If the Hub is attached to a desk mount

a. Unplug the power cord from the desk mount b. Remove the desk mount

4. Remove the back plate from the hub.

5. Unplug the Battery Connector cable. It may be necessary to use needle-nose pliers.

6. Remove the battery by inserting a small flat-head screwdriver under the battery on the opposite end from the retaining clip and prying upwards.

7. Insert the new battery by sliding the end under the retaining clip and pressing the battery into place.

8. Plug the battery connector into the hub.

9. Be sure that the battery wires are tucked into the unit.

10. Reattach the backing plate.

11. If used, reattach the deck mount and plug the power cord back into the desk mount.

12. Reattach the mounting screw.

13. Remove the system from Test mode

a. From the SmartThings mobile app Dashboard, tap HOME SECURITY b. Tap the gear icon

c. Tap SYSTEM TEST

d. Follow the on-screen instructions to end the System Test in ADT

Emergency Button

In the event of an emergency, you can use your SmartThings hub to notify ADT. An ADT operator will respond to assist you according to the terms of your monitoring service.

Press the Emergency button to display the Panic, Fire and Medical Emergency buttons.

Press and hold the appropriate Panic, Fire or Medical Emergency button for 2 seconds.

The color of the Emergency button will indicate its status:

No lights: The emergency button is not available White: The emergency button is ready for use Blinking White: An emergency alarm is in progress

Home Button

Press the Home button to wake the hub and display the Home screen, or to return to the Home screen from any screen.

The color of the Home button indicates the system status:

No lights: The system is not ready to be armed; one or more protected doors or windows is open.

Green: The system is ready to be armed.

Flashing Green: The system is ready to be armed, but there is a power outage. The system is operating on its backup battery.

Flashing Orange: The system is not ready to be armed; one or more protected doors or windows is open and there is a power outage. The system is operating on its backup battery.

Reset Alarm

To silence an alarm, enter your [security code].

Note: the siren will sound for 4 minutes after an intrusion is detected unless a valid security code is entered.

Screen

You can control your screen display from the Settings menu.

Screen Brightness: controls the brightness of the keypad display

Screen Timeout: controls how long the screen will display before entering going blank after using it

Clean Mode: disables the screen and buttons for 30 seconds to allow you to wipe them clean To change the screen settings:

1. Tap SETTINGS.

2. Tap SCREEN.

3. Tap the setting to be changed

a. Screen Brightness: slide the brightness control to the right to increase the brightness or to the left to decrease the brightness.

b. Screen Timeout: tap the arrow for a drop-down menu. Select the time desired.

c. Clean Mode: Tap the START button to initiate the Clean Mode. The keypad will automatically exit Clean Mode after 30 seconds.

4. Tap or the HOME button to exit.

Sounds

The SmartThings hub provides a number of audible notifications that can be adjusted from the panel:

Voice and Chime: adjust the level of notifications from the panel, such as when a door is opened Keypad: adjust the level of the sound made by pressing the panel's keypad when entering user codes

System Annunciation: increase or decrease the volume of the panel's automated alert voice, which can be heard when Arming and Disarming the system

For your security, the volume of the alert siren cannot be changed.

To change the volume of these notifications:

1. Tap SETTINGS 2. Tap SOUNDS.

3. Slide the volume control right to increase the volume or to the left to decrease the volume.

4. Tap or the HOME button to exit.

Status Icons

System status icons appear in the top ribbon of the screen.

ICON DESCRIPTION ACTION REQUIRED

Power Connected Normal state - no action needed

Power Not Connected Verify that the ADT SmartThings hub is plugged into a working electrical outlet

Low Backup Battery Replace the backup battery in the ADT SmartThings hub

Incoming Messages Tap to see messages

Dim Touchscreen Tap to dim/lighten the screen

System Sounds On All system sounds are on. Normal state - no action required.

System Sounds Off Keyboard tones, voice and chime responses have been silenced.

The alarm siren will still sound.

Wi-Fi Connected The SmartThings hub is connected to the internet. This is the normal state; no action is required

Wi-Fi Not Connected

The SmartThings hub is not connected to the internet. Tap Settings, then tap Wireless. Follow the on screen prompts to join your

wireless network.

User Codes Master Code

The Master Code is required to access and change the System Settings. The default Master Code (1111) should be changed immediately after setup of the system.

To change the Master Code:

1. Select SYSTEM SETTINGS from the Home screen.

4. Tap next to MASTER USER.

5. Tap next to CODE.

6. Enter a new Master Code and then select NEXT.

7. Enter the new Master Code again as confirmation and then select DONE.

8. Press HOMEto return to the Home screen.

User Codes

Your system allows for up to 98 different security codes for use by other users; however only the Master user can assign User Codes to users.

To add a User Code:

1. Select SYSTEM SETTINGS from the Home Screen.

2. Enter the Master Code.

3. Select USERS and then ADD USER.

4. Enter a name for the user and then select NEXT.

5. Enter a code for the new user and then select NEXT. Note: each user code must be unique and cannot be the same as the Master Code.

6. Enter the User Code again as confirmation and then select DONE.

7. Press HOMEe to return to the Home screen.

Each User Code is valid 24/7 by default. You can designate a schedule for when you want a specific User Code to be valid. For example: the code for a pet sitter is only valid for the days you are on vacation, or the code for a housekeeper is only valid during their working hours.

To set up a schedule for a User Code:

1. Select SYSTEM SETTINGS from the Home Screen.

2. Enter the Master Code.

3. Select USERS.

4. Tap next to the user the schedule is for.

5. Scroll down and tap next to ADD SCHEDULE.

6. Select the type of schedule you want to add: RECURRING, DATE or DATE RANGE.

7. Select the days of the week and the times of day when the User Code will be valid.

8. When complete, tap to confirm the schedule.

9. Press HOME to return to the Home screen.
