Dear Sirs,

30 years ago we have started our adventure with OXO

alcohols manufacturing.

Since then we have been

continuously building our experience and improving our

professional competence.

Today we are a paragon of

product quality – referred to as ZAK Quality.

We focus

on innovation which fuels our daily work and gives us

great deal of joy.

The OXO Segment is a very important business for our

company. We develop it on daily basis and set new,

ambitious goals. We have changed and incorporated

new commercial strategy fi tting our partners’ needs as a

priority of business strategy of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. It is

a joint and mutual advantage for us and our commercial

partners to build innovative product portfolio

tailored to specifi c requirements. We will do that in

multicompetence teams focused on diff erent products.

We have already taken decisions concerning specialty

esters and other projects will follow.

In 2015th we started a new one of the most

technologically advanced non-phthalate plasticizer

plant in this part of Europe.

Our Oxovifl ex

®

immediately

gained recognition not only from commercial side but

also of Polish Agency of Enterprise Development (PARP)

who awarded our product with prestigious Award

Polish Product of the Future. This is only an example

that we do perceive innovation in a very broad way. We

want to pioneer in terms of technology and customer

relations. Yet another example of our innovative attitude

is OXO and Polymers Application Centre which has

been initiated by Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. The Center is to

be a think tank and a platform to exchange ideas and

experiences between industry and scientifi c circles.

I’m sure that together Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. and our

business partners will succeed.

Our experience in OXO products dates back to 1954. This is when we started production of our first PVC plasticizer.

In co-operation with Davy Process we commenced OXO plant modernization aimed at increasing its capacity. The process ended in November 1998.

We began production of diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP). It was known as Oxoplast® IB.

We changed our internal structure and a dedicated Oxoplast Business Unit was created.

As one of the first in Europe we developed a non-pthalate, PTA based plasticizer and put it to small scale production.

Observing trends and dynamic changes in the market we have introduced a high molecular weight phthalate plasticizer – DPHP. It is known as Oxoplast® PH.

We decided to build a large scale plant for Oxoviflex® a non-pthalate plasticizer

(50 kT /year).

We have started-up a large scale plant for a non-pthalate, PTA based plasticizer (50 kT /year). The product has been introduced under Oxoviflex® brand.

Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. initiated an OXO and Polymers Application Centre.

We have introduced a new product brand - Oxoplast Medica®, a plasticizer for

medical purposes. In 1963 we have started to produce diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP). It is known worldwide as Oxoplast® O.

We have started-up a modern OXO alcohols plant

(2-Ethylhexanol, n-Butanol, Isobutanol) as well as hydrogen and synthesis gas facilities. The investment had been started in 1982 and employed Davy Process technology.

In co-operation with Davy Process we commenced OXO

30 YEARS OF OXO

years

The history behind

our OXO plant

This year we celebrate a 30th anniversary of starting up our OXO plant. This is a backbone of our OXO Segment thanks to which we are 2nd largest European producer of 2-EH. It is a good time to recall the beginnings of this turning point in Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. history.

Seventies and eighties of XX century was a hard time both for the company and Polish economy. Yet we have always been looking ambitiously to the future and utilizing our innovative capabilities to make key investments and changes within

our company. Looking ahead the decision has been made to commence an investment in OXO alcohols facility. At that time this was a largest projected investment in Opole voivodship and was to become a turning point for our company. The contract to put up this facility was granted to a German contracting company and we utilized the most modern British/ American technology at that time. Yet it took couple of years since 1979 when the technology was licensed to 1982 when the investment started.

Since we needed to develop professional and technical capabilities to operate the plant our engineers and technical staff responsible for this investment were later on assigned to start-up and operate the unit. Some of them went through a thorough training in Texas on a similar plant operated by Dow Chemichals, the rest of the staff was trained in Great Britain. In August of 1986 the plant went through initial start-up. In October a WGS unit has been started up and couple days later our OXO plant was up and running, producing initially butanols and couple of weeks later 2-EH.

At that time our OXO plant was

3rd largest worldwide.

We used approximately

10 kt

of steel constructions and

5 kt

of machinery to build it. Initially the capacities of alcohols were set at

100 kt/year

of 2-EH,

20 kt/year

of N-Butanol and

13,5 kt/year

of Isobutanol.

Eventually shortly after the start-up we

Poland became the largest.

10 years after putting our OXO plant into operation we started a 2 year long revamping process in terms of capacity and modernized the technology to be capable to produce highest quality oxo alcohols.

INNOVATION PUT

INTO PRACTICE

2015th was a very fruitful year for our

OXO Segment.

On 29th of April we offi cially launched our non-phthalate plasticizer Oxovifl ex® plant and in November we started yet

another forward looking initiative - an OXO and Polymers Application Centre – chemical think tank and a platform to exchange ideas and experiences between companies and scientifi c circles. Apart from Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. the Center Intent Letter has been signed by Ergis SA, SILEKOL Sp. z o.o., Silesian University, Opole Technical University , Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibres, Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia”

The main objective of OXO and Polymers Application Centre is to seek and defi ne innovative technologies and products within specialty chemistry through R&D activities.

Our product portfolio comprises products that are often reff ered to as „intelligent additives” and produced according to strictest European chemical regulation. In near future we will expand our plasticizer portfolio by introducing specialty esters including bio-esters.

is a very important part of our business. We are operating one of the most technologically advanced plants in Europe. We are No.1 Oxo alcohols and plasticizer producer in Poland and No.5 in Europe. We always strive to meet our clients’ needs especially from plastics sector and others who utilize OXO Segment products. Innovation by Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is not only the technology but also pioneer application, by which our company becomes most competitive player on the European market.

OXO Segment

Adam Leszkiewicz

Chairman of the Board

I am convinced that the Centre will help us in becoming even more effi cient in developing innovative products which will fulfi ll our client’s needs – said Mr. Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. One of the main roles of OXO and Polymers Application Centre is to shape and promote eff ective cooperation between science and industry – Cooperation with science is very important for us. We are convinced that implementing innovative products and technologies developed by Polish science is the top priority issue for our company – underlines Mr. Leszkiewicz. The Centre is an open platform, thus any company sharing its ideas and active within OXO and polymer chain may join it to work out synergies within the Centre.
