Social skills and competences

Team work experiences:

- Project Cooperation within Black, Blue & Green – Integrated infrastructure planning as key to sustainable urban water systems (2BG) explores the possibility for a paradigm shift within urban water systems, a shift that focuses on citizens’ life quality and long-term functionality of applied management concepts. http://2bg.dk/default.html . (2008-2009)

-I made part of several study groups during my studies both in Italy and in Denmark (DTU). -I am founding member of the no profit organization Engineering Without Borders-Florence (Ingegneria Senza Frontiere-Firenze) and I have been part of the directive council of the Florence headquarters of the same association (2002-2004).

-I have been part of the national coordination council for the creation of the Engineering Without Borders-Italy (2002-2005).

-I have been cooperating with the European Social Forum and I am still member of the Italian Water Forum

Intercultural skills:

-I have lived, studied and worked in three different countries (Italy, Denmark and Netherland) and I have learned that cultural aspects has a strong influence in both professional and personal relations. -During an experience of 1 month in Yucatan, Mexico (summer 2007) for a special course on field surveys with DTU I learned to cooperate and work on the field with people of different cultural and technical background. I also learned how to arrive to compromises in order to fulfil common aims. Furthermore to perform my measurements I had to communicate with local people (in Spanish) as most of the time I had to enter within private properties and I needed to acquire local knowledge about water supply, water quality, and social water uses.

-I took part of the Erasmus European Program studying at the Technical University of Denmark (2005-2006).

-I studied languages abroad several times living together with local families: August 1992, English at the International Language Academy in London (UK); July 1993, English & German at the Euro-Institute in Innsbruck (Austria); July 1994 & 1995, English at the City of Bath College in Bath (UK); July 1996, English at the Eastbourne School of English in Eastbourne (UK); January 2007, Spanish at Enforex in Madrid (Spain).

Teaching skills:

-As teaching assistant at the Technical University of Denmark in two courses at master level

- As study-helper in Physic and Mathematic for old and young students living in the prison of Prato (IT) within a project with Engineering Without Borders-Florence.

Organisational skills and competences

-During my experience as Research Assistant at DTU Environment I have been administrator of several courses (i.e. “Xenobiotics in the Urban Water Cycle” and “Environmental Management and Ethics”) and I have collaborated as project manager assistant within a European Project called ScorePP together with Peter Steen Mikkelsen ([email protected]).

-In summer 2007 I planned my own field work (water level survey) in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) in cooperation with the Technical University of Denmark(DTU), the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), the Amigos the Sian Ka'an (NGO) and the Centro de Investigation Cientifica de Yucatán (CICY).

-I organized conferences and meetings working with Engineering Without Borders.

-I organized working groups for social and technical projects in Italy and in Developing Countries with Engineering without borders.
