ELE CTRO SPEED

VARL-A NEW GENERVARL-ATION

OF TECHNOLOGY

The Electrospeed variable-speed controller

from Centrilift enables the operator to control

a pump's speed by altering the frequency of

the voltage to the pump's motor.

Higher

frequency increases speed and production

rates; lower frequency decreases speed and

production rates. This flexibility allows

effi-cient production from wells where conditions

of volume, pressure, gas/oil ratio, or water cut

may be unstable.

ADVANTAGES

Electrospeed extends the operating range of

pump operation, adjusting the frequency

between 30 and 90 Hz typically. Frequencies

above 60 Hz generally result in increased

production levels (even in smaller diameter

casings).

Electrospeed operation eliminates the need

to size pumps conservatively to allow for

improper IPR or PI data.

Electrospeed allows a pumping system to

respond to changes in a well with up to 5to 1

"in range" pumping rate capability.

Electrospeed increases the run time of

downhole equipment by eliminating the

electrical and mechanical shock conditions

associated with across-the-line starting.

Electrospeed isolates the motor from

unbal-anced voltage conditions without shutting

down, preventing the severe motor heat that

could result.

Electrospeed isolates

the motor from

destructive storm or switching generated

transient voltages prevalent in the oil field.

Electrospeed employs a superior overload

protection system which controls the load on

the motor rather than merely stopping lithe

load exceeds an arbitrary level.

Electrospeed can be programmed to ignore

short-term underload conditions such as gas

slugging, in order to facilitate longer

contin-uous runs and fewer starts.

EXTERNAL

COOLING SYSTEM

Electrospeed is programmed to close the

con-trol loop on downhole pressure, creating in

some installations, the optimum lift system.

lElectrospeed can also be programmed to

respond to other parameters not using a

downhole sensor, such as fluid density,

vis-cosity changes, changes in flow, etc.

Electrospeed can reduce energy consumption

by doing only that amount of work required to

lift the available fluid to the surface.

Electrospeed, with

its

isolated DC Bus,

causes what is normally an inductive load

(the downhole motor) to appear as a resistive

load, thus improving the power factor.

Electrospeed is protected by the Nema 3

enclosure. This provides longer component

life in environments containing sand, dust or

moisture.

Electrospeed offers the customer proven

experience with both variable speed

control-Jers and electric submersible pumping,

assuring the highest quality equipment,

installation and operation.

ENVIRONMENTAL

FEATURES

The Electrospeed controller is offered in

Nema 3 and Nema l enclosures. The Nema I

is intended for use indoors where dust and

moisture are not prevalent in the

atmos-phere. The Nema 3 is intended for outdoor

use where protection from windblown dust,

rain, sleet, and a typical oil field

environ-ment is desirable. Design consideration has

also been made for equipment operation in

motor control centers such as on offshore

platforms. The enclosure may be custom

designed to allow external ambient air to cool

the equipment without damage to internal

components because of the salt and

mois-ture content of the cooling air.

This is

accomplished by the air intake and exhaust

being relocated on the front, back, sides, top

or bottom, depending on the location of the

ducting system.

FIELD SERVICE

Centrilift regional service centers are staffed

with factory-trained electronic technicianswho

service variable-speed drives as well as total

systems. All Centrilift technicians attend

regu-larly scheduled training sessions to update their

skills.

These training sessions afford the

opportunity for customer technicians to get

bask and advanced training in theory of

op-eration and service techniques through our

training center, located in Claremore.

ENVIRONMENTAL

SERVICEABILITY

Serviceability of the components is from the

front of the unit, with the exception of the

cooling fan of the Nema 3. All power devices

may be serviced without removal of major

components. A minimal number of standard

tools (screwdrivers, sockets, allen wrenches)

are required for servicing. Expensive torque

wrenches and removing large SCR packs are

no longer necessary. Replacement parts are

available from the many service centers.
