Our very own 8th grader, Christopher Flores, will be advancing to the Regional Spelling Bee on March 27th in New Braunfels representing the entire Archdiocese of San Antonio Catholic Schools as he competes against students from other public school districts across San Antonio.
Go Mustangs!
Starbase Kelly’s mobile unit will be providing a week-long STEM program to our 5th-8th grade students in March
and April. Starbase Kelly is an innovative Department of Defense educational program unlike anything they have
experienced before in school. Students will complete hands-on physics and chemistry lessons, model designs on a Computer Aided Design program, 3D print, build and launch a model rocket, and so much more! This week of learning will not only be rewarding but fun!
Inclement Weather Days
The Department of Catholic Schools sent notification to principals that all Catholic schools are being granted a waiver for all 5 days of the winter storm, Mon., Feb. 15th through Fri., Feb. 19th. We are required to take these as inclement weather days and have been instructed not to have any make-up days.
Therefore, we will NOT have school on Battle of the Flowers, Fri., April 23rd. 8th grade graduation is still scheduled for Fri. May 21st, and the last day of school is Fri., May 28th. We pray everyone has recovered from the storm!

Why I Love Our School
Every week we will be sharing testimonials from our contest winners about why
our students and teachers love our school. To view our Hope for the Future Impact Video, click on the image. “When I walk into St. James the Apostle Catholic School, I don’t just see the school I work for; I see my second home. I am thankful to work at a school where I can express my faith and help my students grow through their faith, as well. Spending each day helping my students grow academically and working with my best friends is something I thank God for every single day. I believe that God helped guide me to this school for a reason, and for that, I truly do love my school.” – Ms. Celestina Hernandez, 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher
"I love St. James the Apostle School because of all the great people there. The principal is great, the teachers are great, and all my friends are great. I also love that we have mass every week, sometimes we have it multiple times a week. The thing that I love the most is God. I love learning about God. That is what I love about St. James the Apostle Catholic School." – Michael
"I love my school because everyone that comes to St. James learns about God. Everyone becomes a Catholic, and we go to Mass every Friday. The teachers are so nice and kind. We are one big family. We have so much fun everyday at St. James. We come to a Catholic school to serve our Lord. All of the people who work here are really nice like the principal, the vice principal, all of the teachers, the priest, the bishop, the art teacher, the P.E. teacher, the computer teacher, the lunch ladies, the janitor, the nurse, and the office people." – Josiah
"I love my school because I make a new friend every year. The reason I love this school is that my teachers are nice and kind. My parents put me in this school for a reason. The reason is that I can learn a lot, and when I mean a lot, it's a lot. We learn a lot of Holy words, the 10 commandments, about our flag and division, we also learn a lot from our other teacher. Her name is Ms. A. Hernandez. She is the best teacher, but I have 2 more teachers I love, Mrs. Marin and Ms. C. Hernandez, and that why you should come to St. James. Both of my teachers are the best. They are so cool. I love them, some, all the way to God." - Paris
