What kind of city?
Small cities seem to be more attractive than before and feel safer (less
people, no cramped travel, open air, close to home food, etc.).
Bigger cities need to review and rethink their internal policies.
If urban sustainability efforts continue to ignore justice,
they can exacerbate inequalities.
Our approach with nature and the planet has been questioned.
There is a need to make green cities meet

What processes?
Re-use of abandoned buildings, improving functions and adapting to new needs to a threshold that does not compromise their value.
A new Tourism model creating deep social, environmental and economic benefits moving away from the “stop-and-go” approach.
Culture is a catalyst for collaborative processes to regenerate and transform cities into creative and sustainable laboratories.
Sustainability, resilience, peace and culture as pillars of the cities of the future.

• Potential of domestic tourism, linked to nature
• New actions potentially evolving into business opportunities
• Urban dwellers to come to less populated areas for staycations
• Sharing of practices developed in other territories to reduce the sensation of solitude and uncertainty
• Rural co-working and hot-desking spaces
• Local administrations of small
municipalities struggle to maintain their ordinary activities
• Effective cooperation between
stakeholders through remote coordination
• Exacerbated existing mobility issues, due to social distances and restrictions
