This technote provides the necessary steps to allow InTouch tags to be imported into InControl’s symbol database. This is done so you don’t have to add each symbol one at a time.

Before you get started:

• Install InControl 7.11 SP1 Patch01.

• Perform a dbdump from InTouch to get all the IO Tags you will need to import into InControl.

Add the "Suitelink 2" IO Driver

1. Open a new project in InControl, and go into InControl’s development environment (Figure 1 below):

3. For this test, select Suitelink 2 as your IO Driver (Note that you can use any one in the list):

5. Enter a Board name:. For this example SLIOImport is entered. 6. Click OK.

The SuiteLink (Wonderware)... dialog box appears (Figure 5 below). 7. Click the Add button to add a new topic.

• Node: Enter the node name if the ioserver is on a remote pc. Otherwise, leave it blank. • Application: Enter in the Suitelink server application name. (i.e. AB1784KT)

• Topic: Enter in the topic name you created in the ioserver

9. Select the appropriate option that corresponds to the correct communication protocol (Suitelink or DDE).

10. Click OK to close this dialog box (Figure 7 below):

12. Edit the items in the Symbol that apply then click OK.

Your SuiteLink driver configuration should now look like the following figure:

Manually Add an IOTag to the InControl .csv File

1. Locate the .csv file and open it in Excel to edit it.

The Test symbol you added in InControl development should be visible in the file (Figure 13 below):

3. Rename the new symbol test1 (row A10 in Figure 14 above). 4. Click File/Save, and exit Excel.

Import the Edited InControl Symbol .csv File Back Into Incontrol and

Verify the Successful Import

In InControl Development mode:

1. Delete the existing Suitelink 2 IOdriver, and re-add it.

2. Import the modified .csv file back into InControl using the Import button in the board setup dialog box (Figures 15 and 16 below):

3. Doubleclick the .csv file to import it. 4. Click Save & Exit.

You should see the new tag (Test1) in the InControl symbol database, and the New Suitelink tag will be added. Re-open the Suitelink2 IOdriver (Figure 17 below):
