This document is intended to provide a guide on how to install AccountRight in a Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop environment. It is not intended as a detailed guide on the different ways in which remote desktop can be used. For more information on Remote Desktop Services please visit:

To ensure that AccountRight is installed correctly to work in a multiuser environment, you must put the Remote Desktop Session Host server into a special installation mode before you install AccountRight on the Remote Desktop Session Host server. This special installation mode ensures that the correct registry entries and .ini files that are needed to run AccountRight in a multiuser environment are created during the installation process. You can put a Remote Desktop Session Host server into this special installation mode by doing either of the following:
1. Use the Install Application on Remote Desktop Session Host tool under Programs in the Control Panel.
This tool will run a wizard to help install the application; or
2. Use the Change User /install command from a command prompt to place the server into Install mode. You can then start the installation of AccountRight manually. It is important to change the Remote Desktop Server mode back to Execute after installing by using Change User /execute at a command prompt.
These options are described on the following pages.
1.1 USE THE INSTALL APPLICATION ON REMOTE DESkTOP
SESSION HOST TOOL UNDER PROgRAMS IN CONTROL PANEL
3. In the Run
Installation Program wizard, click Browse
and locate the AccountRight installer on the installation CD, or in a folder on your server. Click Next. 2. Click Install Application
on Remote Desktop Server… 1. In the Control
Panel, click the
Programs link.
1.2 USE THE CHANgE USER/INSTALL COMMAND
FROM A COMMAND PROMPT
1. From a domain administrator account, open a Command Prompt window. 2. Type Change User/install and press Enter. You will be advised that the server has
been placed into Install mode.
3. Install AccountRight by double-clicking the downloaded installer or by running it from the installation CD.
You can now follow the AccountRight installation wizard. This process may take some time depending on the state of the server as some Microsoft prerequisites may need to be installed if they are not already present. 4. At the completion of the software installation it is important to put the server
Once AccountRight has installed you are ready to make it available to users. The way you do this depends on whether your organisation uses Remote Desktop Services in:
1. Remote Desktop Mode – You are making the application available as part of an entire desktop, and users will see a whole desktop on their computer when they connect to the Remote Desktop Server.
2. Remote Application Mode – You are publishing individual applications, and users will see icons for applications as if it were running on their local computer Follow the procedure that applies to the way you use Remote Desktop Services.
2.1 REMOTE DESkTOP MODE
This is the most common way to use Remote Desktop Server. After completing an installation of the AccountRight software, users will log in to the Remote Desktop Server by using RDP session (Remote Desktop Connection).
After the users connect, they will see a full desktop and they can access AccountRight from an icon on the desktop or from the Start menu.

2.2 REMOTE APPLICATION MODE
4. Click Next and complete the RemoteApp wizard. You are now ready to give users access to the application.
5. Right-click MYOB AccountRight in the list of programs and choose Properties.
7. Create an installer that will place an AccountRight icon on your users’ desktop so they can launch AccountRight. This installer can be deployed through various means such as Microsoft group Policy.
To create the installer, do the following:
a) Right-click MYOB AccountRight in the RemoteApp Manager window and choose
Create Windows Installer Package.
When setting up AccountRight you need to decide where your company files will be stored. Typically these are either:
1. On a separate file or application server (recommended); or
2. In a defined location on the Remote Desktop Server itself, typically a d: (data) drive. See the diagram in Appendix A showing these options.
Instructions on how to do this are described on the following pages.
3.1 ACCOUNTRIgHT LIBRARY LOCATION ON A SEPARATE APPLICATION
OR FILE SERvER (RECOMMENDED)
AccountRight is a client-server application. This gives you:
1. Improved performance when accessing files over a network in multi-user mode
2. Improved reliability over a network
3. Significantly reduced likelihood of file corruption when working over a network
4. Improved security of company files
If you want to store your company files on a separate application or file server you must install AccountRight on the server that is hosting the company files. To do this,
follow the standard installation instructions. Note: This install will be used only as a server; the application itself does not need to be run on this machine.
Once AccountRight is installed on the file server you can change the default location where the product will look for company files. This can be the existing location where you already store company files from older versions of AccountRight. See the “Moving your AccountRight library to a new location” support note for instructions:

NZ –http://myobnz.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/33884/kw/library
You can also continue to give users direct access to this folder through Windows network sharing but this is not necessary in order for AccountRight to run.
After you complete the configuration of the AccountRight library on the file server, configure access to the company files stored on that server. The following steps are to be done for each user on the Remote Desktop Server.
1. Start AccountRight
from the Remote Desktop Server desktop and click Open.
2. Click Network Libraries and then Add a Network Library to add a location to your Library Browser.
3. Enter the name or IP address of the file server and then click OK. You will now see all company files that are stored on this server.
Enter the name or IP Address of the file

3.2 ACCOUNTRIgHT LIBRARY LOCATION ON THE REMOTE
DESkTOP SERvER
If you want to store your company files on the Remote Desktop Server, you can change the default location where the product will look for company files. This can be the existing location where you already store company files from older versions of AccountRight. This location must be a local hard drive on this server; it cannot be a network location. If you want to store your files on another server, see the previous instructions.
Please refer to the following support note for instructions on how to use the Set Library Location utility to define the location where you store your files:

For more information on group Policies, speak to your IT professional. 1. Configure the Network Libraries location within AccountRight for one user (E.g. an
administrator account) using the instructions located on pages 12 and 13. 2. From this user account, browse to the following path and locate the file
mruNetworkServers4%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\MYOB\AccountRight\ Settings\
3. Save a copy of the mruNetworkServers4 file to a generic location on your system. 4. Add a command to your Login group Policy to copy the mruNetworkServers4
