VersaRack

Installation Instructions

All of us at Masterack wish to thank you for your purchase of the VersaRack™. We are proud of this

product and hope that you fi nd it a functional as well as a stylish addition to your truck.

An illustration of the assembled rack mounted on a truck is shown below. You will be assembling the

rack in stages, beginning with the Top Rails and following the step by step procedure outlined in this

guide. The VersaRack™ can be mounted to your truck two ways, hard mount or stake pocket mount.

The stake pocket mount requires no drilling but fastens with Pocket Loks™

sold separately

. If your

truck does not have stake pockets, hard mounting is your only option.

We have labeled each item in the parts kit with a letter. These letters will be noted throughout the

as-sembly procedure to help you identify parts and hardware as you assemble the rack.

Tools Required:

1/2" wrench, 1/2" socket, ratchet and a soft rubber mallet. If you are hard mounting the rack, you will

need a power drill, 3/8" drill bit and center punch. If you are using Pocket Loks™, you will need a

phil-lips head screwdriver.

Note:

To properly achieve the recommended torque settings, we suggest you use a torque wrench

with 1/2" socket.

Let's begin! The rack will require some room to assembly. So clear a space, open the box and identify

all of the parts and hardware listed below. If you have found a shortage or are missing a part, please

contact your dealer for replacements.

The following is a list of parts and hardware to build the VersaRack™ system. Keep this sheet with

you during the assembly to help identify parts and hardware.

Note:

Some parts, not shown here, may be needed in this assembly process to mount various

acces-sories to the VersaRack™.

Step One

Preparation for Mounting

The fi rst step is to determine how to mount your new VersaRack™ to your truck. Choosing the method of mount-ing the rack depends on the type of truck you have. If your truck is equipped with stake pockets you may use either mounting option. If your truck does not have stake pockets, hard mounting is your only option. Hard mounting means you will need to drill four (4) holes into your truck and bolt the rack to the vehicle. You will use a Rack Foot Load Plate (J) at the four foot locations. We recommend locating the Molded Feet (K) at the locations shown.

Pocket mounting requires NO DRILL-ING. Masterack® recommends you use

only Pocket Lok® stake pocket anchors.

See your dealer for Pocket Loks® that fi t

your truck, sold separately.

Step Two

Mounting Molded Feet

After determining your mounting method, mount all four (4) Molded Feet (K) onto the bed rail.

When hard mounting, make sure the four (4) drilling locations are accessible from under the bed rail. You may need to remove tail lights or other items to gain access. Stake Pockets Stake Pockets Recommended Hard Mount Locations Hard Mount K T U R J Anchor Bracket Pocket Anchor Block K U J W S R

Step Three

Assemble Top Rails

Orient the Top Rail pieces with the labels toward the front and facing outside. To assemble the two (2) Top Rails (A), slide the Splice (E) into the rail ends with the holes. Butt the rails together so the bolts fi t into the square holes in the channel. Install 5/16" x 2-1/2" Carriage Bolts (N), 5/16" Flat Washers (T) and 5/16" Nyloc Hex Nuts (R). Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs.

Step Four

Install 5-3/4" Bolt Tracks

Place the Top Rails on a large fl at sur-face with the channel opening up. Slip two (2) 5-3/4" Bolt Tracks (G) into each Top Rail with the bolt slot facing up. Slide two (2) 5/16" x 1-1/4" Hex Bolts (P) into each Bolt Track (G). The Hex Bolts and Bolt Tracks will be adjusted to fi t into the Molded Corner Brackets (F) at a later time.

Step Six

Install Molded Corner Bracket

(F) to Cross Channel (B)

Make sure that the Molded Spacer Blocks are inside the Cross Channel and positioned at the top two (2) holes. Mount the Molded Corner Bracket (F) to the Cross Channel (B) with two (2) 5/16" x 2-1/2" Carriage Bolts (N), 5/16" Flat Washers (T) and 5/16" Nyloc Hex Nuts (R). Repeat on both ends of the Cross Channels (B). Do not tighten the bolts yet.

Step Seven

Install Molded Corner Bracket

(F) to Legs (D)

Make sure that a Molded Spacer Block is inside the Leg and lined up with the top hole. Insert the Leg (D) in the Mold-ed Corner Bracket (F) with the two (2) holes at the top and the channel open-ing outward. Align the Molded Spacer Block (M), the upper holes in the Leg (D) and the top holes in the Corner Bracket (F). Install a 5/16" x 2-1/2" Carriage Bolt (N), 5/16" Flat Washer (T) and 5/16" Nyloc Hex Nut (R). Repeat at the uppers hole location for each Leg (D) and leave loose at this time.

Align the lower of the top two (2) holes of the Leg (D) with the slotted holes in the Molded Corner Bracket (F). Install a Molded Lock Washer (Q) with the tab in the slotted hole. For wide truck beds, place the tab toward the inside of the bed; for narrow truck beds, place the tab toward the outside of the bed. Install a 5/16" x 1-1/4" Carriage Bolt (U), 5/16" Flat Washer (T) and 5/16" Nyloc Hex Nut (R).

Repeat at all four (4) corners. Leave the bolts loose at this time allowing the Legs to swing in the slots.

Step Nine

Mounting Top Rails

Hold the Top Rail Assembly (A) above the End Cross Channels (B). Slide the 5-3/4" Bolt Tracks (G) until the Hex Bolts (P) can easily drop into the holes in the top of the Molded Corner Brackets (F). Secure with 5/16" Flat Washers (T) and 5/16" Nyloc Hex Nuts (R).

Step Eleven

Install Rail End Caps (L)

We recommend that you coat the in-serted portion of the Rail End Caps (L) with a small amount of silicone adhesive before installing them. Use a soft rubber mallet to tap the Rail End Caps (L) into the ends of the Top Rails (A).

Step Twelve

Final Adjustments

If necessary, loosen the bolts slightly to adjust the VersaRack™ side to side and front to rear until the End Cross Channel is level. Tighten the bolts at the slotted holes in all Molded Corner Brackets (M). Then tighten the top bolts in the Molded Corner Brackets (M). Finally, tighten the bolts at the four (4) Molded Feet (K). Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
