The KeirseyTM Temperament Sorter®-II (KTSTM-II) is a powerful 70-question personality instrument that helps individuals

discover their personality type. The KTSTM-II is based on Dr. David Keirsey’s Temperament theory and has helped more

than 30 million people worldwide to gain insight into themselves and the people around them.

According to Keirsey Temperament TheoryTM, people can be sorted into four Temperament groups. These groups are

referred to as ArtisansTM, GuardiansTM, RationalsTM, and IdealistsTM. Within each of the four Temperaments, there are four

Temperament Variants, called Types. To discover your Temperament and Type, follow the steps below.

STEP : GUIDELINES FOR cOMPLETING THE KTS

-II

1.

(IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ)

The KTSTM-II personality instrument indicates personality style. It does not measure abilities, intelligence, or skill.

The KTSTM-II results do not measure the degree or extent of a scale. In other words someone with a

10 score for the Extraversion scale is not necessarily more extraverted than someone with a 6 score. It merely indicates a greater preference for extraverted behavior.

The KTSTM-II is only as accurate as the information that you provide. When answering the questions,

think about your behavior at times when you are on vacation, in a stress free environment, or when you just feel “most yourself.”

If you come across a question that you find too difficult to answer, try thinking about the question in following manner:

a. Greater Preference: Think of your answer in the same manner as which hand you prefer to write

with. Although you could probably write with either hand, one hand writes much better than the other. Your choice of an answer on a particular question should be viewed in the same manner— select one answer that you prefer more than the other.

b. Your Past: Think about your choice relative to how you may have answered this question at different

times in your past. Sometimes the answer becomes much clearer when we view our choices at different stages in our life.

c. Group Pressures. Sometimes you may have difficulty answering questions because there is a way

you think you “should be.” Take into consideration any work or group pressures that you feel may affect your selections. Also, ask yourself if there is anything in your background that could affect your selection.

d. Skip the Question. If you try all of the above and are still unable to decide, simply skip the

question and move on. However, leaving more than 5 questions unanswered could substantially affect the accuracy of the results.

After you complete the KTSTM-II, you will have the opportunity to personally verify the results.

Remember, there are no wrong answers and no wrong personality types.

ABOUT KEIRSEY

“Understanding

temperament styles is the key to working with others.” - David Keirsey

The Temperament DiscoveryTM

System features the KeirseyTM

Temperament Sorter®-II and

personality descriptions based on the book, “Please Understanding Me II.” Both were written by Dr. David Keirsey, a clinical

psychologist who worked in public schools for 20 years, and then spent 11 years training therapists and pathologists at California State University, Fullerton, in the art of changing dysfunctional behavior in children and adults.

REcOMMENDED READING

PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME II PEOPLE PATTERNS PRESIDENTIAL TEMPERAMENT PORTRAITS OF TEMPERAMENT

“Please Understand Me” has sold over two million copies. The completely rewritten and expanded “Please Understand Me II: Temperament,

Character, Intelligence,” is Dr. Keirsey’s latest best selling book, and incorporates much of his sixty years of research into human personality. He is currently working on a new book, “Temperament and Talent,” which examines the complex interaction between our inborn preferences, what we practice, our natural talents, and our developed skills.

Stephen Montgomery presents a modern guide to the four temperaments, the four ancient “people patterns” that hold the key to personality types. Montgomery draws extensively on the work of David Keirsey, but he also cites scores of characters from popular books, movies, and TV to bring the four temperaments alive. In an easy style, and in words that everyone can understand, Montgomery shines a bright new light on Keirsey’s four temperaments.

Keirsey and Choiniere examine 40 of the US presidents, explaining how each President’s temperament inevitably expressed itself in his behavior, both in office and in his personal life. The authors believe that this book may help voters see through the facades of political campaigns and to make more informed choices about political candidates.

Keirsey expands upon his work in “Please Understand Me,” by examining the different communication styles exhibited by the four temperaments. His analysis of Directive and Informative roles provides insight into how the four temperaments interact.
