Check concepts for feasibilty early in the process: Early analysis and validation of design alternatives to support concept design

(10)

Scalable

• Choose your combination of solutions

Interoperable

• Users can share the same model, while using the right tool for their role • Leverage existing models to create new concepts

• Concepts can be analyzed early in the process, preventing re-modeling later on

Time to Value

• No time wasted recreating concepts

• Explore more concepts in the same time, improve product quality • Reduce Time to Market

• Less opportunity for errors in model creation

Why Concept Design with Creo?

(11)
(12)

Sketching Tools

– Familiar tools for geometry creation – Toggle construction mode on and off

Sketching Guides

– Snap geometry to important locations

• Horizontal, vertical, parallel, perpendicular, equal size, etc.

– Not a permanent constraint, just a placement guide – Touch buffer

• Determines which entities to reference w/ guides • Add / remove references in

– Idle mode

– Active geometry tool – Geometry dragging • Can be configured

– Number of references in guide queue – How long it takes to “touch” a reference

2D Authoring Environment

(13)

Import data from standard 2D formats

– DXF, IGES, DWG, DRW, MI, etc.

– Select which entities to import

Import cross sections from the Creo Parametric App

– Part or assembly

– Create structure in Layout from the assembly components – Preview the cross section on the solid model during import

Import raster images using the trace sketch

– TIFF, JPEG, etc.

2D Authoring Environment

(14)

Public and Private data

– By default data is private (configurable)

– Private data is only visible within the concept design

– Designate data as Public when it should be available to 3D

User Defined Tags

– Assign a Tag to any group of entities

Structure Nodes

– Create, modify, and reorder product structure

– Automatically create structure groups from imported data or file – Entities have unique membership in no more than one group

2D Authoring Environment

(15)

Use standard or custom drawing formats

– Create new designs with a format

– Swap formats as needed – Set the concept scale – Set the concept text size

Dimension your designs

– Use dimensions as references or – Drive geometry with them

• Graphic indication of growth direction • Lock growth direction or entire dimension

– Type / placement options in RMB menu

2D Authoring Environment

(16)

Favorite Views Filmstrip

– Easily save a zoom level and location to each frame – The frame contains a thumbnail of the saved view – Recall these saved views at any time

– Give the views names and comments – Drag to reorder the saved views

– Collapse the filmstrip to maximize screen area

2D Authoring Environment

(17)

Direct Assembly of Creo Layout

– Creo Layout files can be added to assemblies – Layout file is a node in the model tree

– Acts as a special type of skeleton model – Geometry tagged as Public will appear in 3D

• Curves, planes, axes, points, coordinate systems

– Use Layout as assembly reference for components

Basic 3D Integration

(18)

Copy Geometry or External Copy Geometry

– Select references from Layout file

– Associativity maintained to original Layout file

Create Part Features Referencing Layout Geometry

– Build feature intent on top of 2D geometry

– Changes made in 2D Layout are reflected in 3D

Basic 3D Integration

(19)

Create 3 concepts for a “Cutting Tool”

Select one of them to add

– Dimensions – Structure – Make public

Create a part based on the layout

Add the layout to an assembly

eigen model of andere modellen
