On behalf of SkillsUSA Virginia, welcome to the 51

st

annual SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills

Conference in Roanoke, Virginia. This is an exciting time for all participants. The State

Leadership Conference management team has been hard at work getting ready for this event,

which has a rich history of preparing students for the skills workforce, who are the solution to

Americas’ skills gap.

Competitor’s congratulations on! On earning the right to compete at the state level, we wish

you all the best. You are in the top ten percent of all SkillsUSA Virginia membership, job well

done. Your challenge is to compete at the state level. This year we have over 1,000 skills and

leadership competitors in 100 contests, taking 15 technical exams.

Please continue to give your best. As the SkillsUSA Creed states, let us continue to believe in the

American way of life, education, fair play, dignity of work, high moral and spiritual standards,

and that satisfaction is achieved by good work.

Competitors your three challenges at this event, if accepted, are as follows:

1. Do your best to compete and play fair in your contest

2. Meet as many SkillsUSA members as you can this weekend, friendships last a life time

3. Thank your advisors, contest chair, judges and alumni for all of their hard work and

dedication to making this conference a success.

Best wishes for a great 51

st

Sincerely,

Deborah Tripp
