What is Forcefield?

Forcefield by GE is an innovative security management solution that provides unparalleled control and management of GE’s Challenger security system. GE’s Challenger is one of the most widely used security systems in Australia and New Zealand. Forcefield can be deployed as part of a new security installation, or integrated into existing single or multi-site Challenger installations. Forcefield provides an extensive range of benefits to allow any security manager to take full control of their company wide electronic security concerns.

Functionality

Forcefield brings functionality previously only available to the most advanced enterprise systems. Forcefield functionality includes the most sophisticated alarm monitoring and access control available, with powerful integration to CCTV, Duress, Intercom and Paging systems. Features such as Photo ID, advanced reporting, real time graphics,

door monitoring and guard tours are just some of the powerful security functionality available on the system.

Ease of Use

Managing an advanced security system is made simple when using the intuitive Forcefield graphical interface. Every operator or site can have their own tailored permissions and controls to provide simplified and secure system management. Forcefield can be further simplified by utilising the advanced real-time site map graphics to perform most alarm and system control functions.

Support and Training

As with the GE Challenger, Forcefield is supported by a team of dedicated security professionals across Australia and New Zealand. All Forcefield integrators must attend an advanced accredited training course*. This is to help ensure that all Forcefield solutions meet the organisation's requirements and are installed by competent security professionals.

Built on Challenger

Forcefi eld builds on your existing investment in Challenger, one of the most widely used security systems in Australia and New Zealand.

Forcefi eld Hardware

Forcefi eld is built on a rugged hardware platform and hosts one of the most reliable and secure operating systems available.

Forcefi eld Client

(MS Windows)

For compatibility and convenience Forcefi eld client workstations operate on a Microsoft Windows platform. A user friendly graphical interface provides effortless operation of a powerful feature set.

Security management made easy

* Forcefi eld will only be licensed to trained and accredited Forcefi eld installers. Accreditation details will be checked at time of licence issue. System will not operate without a valid licence.

(3)

Scalability

Forcefield is scalable from a single site to a multinational deployment providing the network architecture that is critical to seamless real-time multi-site and multi-user operation. Forcefield provides for a fully partitioned operator database allowing for each tenant or location to independently view and manage their security system.

Security and Reliability

Understanding the critical nature of security, GE has built the Forcefield application in a real time OS environment on top of a rugged hardware platform to ensure maximum reliability and simplified deployment in the field. With a real-time operating system at its core, and client workstations operating on a standard windows environment, Forcefield provides the optimum balance between reliability and security, while maintaining the flexibility and convenience of Windows workstations.

I.T Infrastructure Friendly

Forcefield uses a thin-client approach to networked workstation connections, minimising network bandwidth requirements and greatly improving network connection reliability and speed. Reduced network bandwidth requirements allow Forcefield to operate in applications where previously it was not possible to implement this type of security management system. Forcefield can greatly reduce the costs of the network infrastructure compared to a typical networked security solution due to its secure nature and its low resource requirements.

(4)

Alarm monitoring

Forcefield provides a powerful alarm handling process. Alarm handling is available from a dedicated alarm screen or a graphical site-plan. Each alarm may be staged through a three-tier response process with pre-programmed response text, before being cleared and reset. Each alarm creates a unique incident number for future reporting and retrieval, and in very busy environments alarms can be grouped and prioritised for the most efficient handling. Alarms can be directed to appear only on certain operator stations, and then if required only at certain times of the day. Lower priority alarms can be sent to a follow-up screen for processing at a later time.

Guard Tour

A Guard Tour is a defined series of checkpoints at which a security guard must check in, within specified time intervals. Failure to check in on time triggers an alarm or other event. Forcefield allows the programming of 1000 guard tours. Each guard tour contains a list of up to 1000 checkpoints that a Guard must activate within a restricted time. Alarms can be generated when a checkpoint is activated either early or late. Now you can ensure that your physical security keeps pace with the rest of your electronic security.

Advanced features

Database Partitioning

Multiple site locations or multiple tenants sharing a common security system require the ability to only manage the part of the security system for which they are responsible. The Forcefield database can be partitioned into virtual sub-systems allowing the software to restrict the operator from viewing records, and controlling and receiving events that are not within their physical domain or area of responsibility. At the same time Forcefield can still allow a privileged operator to be given authority for global system control and monitoring.

System Capacity

Forcefield is designed to manage the most challenging security requirements. A total of 32 Challenger systems can be connected to Forcefield, which provides an incredible 8,192 alarm points, 512 separate alarm areas and 2048 doors or lift access points. Forcefield can manage up to 1,000,000 users system wide, which is broad enough to cover the largest applications.

System Integration (optional)

Forcefield integrates to third party video switchers, pagers, duress systems and intercoms using a high level serial interface. Forcefield allows for users to create other third party integration via advanced triggering enabling any system event to be sent to a third party device.

(5)

Real-Time Graphics

Forcefield incorporates custom site-plans with security devices illustrated on the map as icons that simplify alarm handling and system control. Points in alarm on the map will flash and display their status with the click of a mouse. Operators can even respond to an icon in alarm from the same graphical interface. Multi-storey sites can be linked to one another in sequence and accessed from map ‘hot spots’. An icon editor enables an operator to customise the look of security device icons. Real-time graphic updates on the screen allow for clearer understanding by the operator of the security situation and therefore faster response time.

Reports

Forcefield reporting features are both extensive and flexible with filters providing for a number of report parameters. Once a report is produced it can be sent to screen, printer, hard drive or email. Examples of advanced reports include; Historical reports based on past system history, and On-Site reports listing amount of time a user has spent in a specified area within a site. Muster reports identify a user as being either outside or inside a specified area. Exception reports lists all events which are abnormal, behaving contrary to programming, or any points in alarm. Forcefield has many other specific or user selectable reports available.

Photo ID and Card Programmer

Forcefield has its own facility to design, print and display photo ID information for each system user. Using the GE Smart Card programmer, Forcefield can program or re-program GE Smart Cards with information from the Forcefield user database. User images can be imported into Forcefield and saved with the user data, or printed onto user cards if required. Triggering

Triggering automatically performs a predefined function based on a specific alarm/access condition or point in time. Triggering can be used as an interface to your third party devices, such as duress pagers and CCTV switches, making it one of the most powerful features available in the security industry today.

Advanced Access Control

Forcefield provides advanced management of door and lift access for multiple users and user profiles. For example, a profile granting access to a user may be set to expire at a pre-set time and date, after which a specified alternative profile takes effect for that user. Other access features include door monitoring of selected doors to be controlled (opened) on a workstation basis complete with photo id of the user attempting to gain access (can be compared against video footage). The system even provides the ability to override Door Lock schedules, allowing the operator to specify time periods when a door should be unlocked, together with optional areas that should be disarmed.

(6)

Health and Aged Care

Forcefield can be tailored to meet the most demanding requirements for staff and patient access control of sensitive areas and records, and provides full integration to leading providers of Intercom, Paging, Duress, Evacuation and Off-site management of the Health and Aged Care industry.

Retail

Forcefield is extremely flexible and can bring together the right level of security needed to manage a changing retail environment, from the shop floor to the warehouse – fast and economically. Forcefield provides remote multi-site management for a retail chain or franchise stores, as well as control of multiple stores within a large shopping centre.

A solution for every industry

Education

Whether a small school or large university, people management and protection of secure areas are key requirements. Forcefield can provide almost unlimited control of users - door access, floor access and alarm access, and because Forcefield can manage up to 1 million users, there is always capacity to grow.

Finance

Financial institutions throughout Australia and New Zealand have trusted the GE Challenger since 1990, with more than 5,000 installations. Forcefield can now enhance the security that Challenger provides with features such as Automated Guard-Tours, CCTV Integration and Remote Alarm Monitoring.

(7)

Multi-Site Commercial

Forcefield is particularly suited to multi-site and multi-operator deployments. Forcefield can link all the locations together over secure and low bandwidth Local Area Networks or Wide Area Networks for centralised or distributed management of the security system.

Industrial / Mines

Industrial and Mining facilities not only require protection of assets but also the safety of people. Forcefield may be integrated with OH&S policies, providing critical information on the location of personnel such as On-Site Reports and Muster Reporting, vital in the case of an emergency.

Government

Government facilities require the ability to authenticate user access to restricted areas. When a user access event occurs, Forcefield can display the event details and the user photo ID for verification against video footage.

Utilities

Critical infrastructures such as Electricity, Water and Waste by their nature are often located across large and remote areas. Forcefield can provide real-time remote alarm monitoring and management of these sites while providing un-matched flexibility and low bandwidth network connections to each facility.
