Property

Chalet des Cimes is a beautifully restored Savoyarde Farmhouse situated in the hamlet of Montalbert in the heart of the stunning Tarentaise Valley. The main construction of the chalet is thick stone walls and larch roof timbers of the original farmhouse, built in 1857.

(6)

This 3-storey, restored home takes advantage of the ambiance of the original house while meeting the expectations of modern living. Under-floor heating throughout and a high level of insulation on all external walls and the roof ensure a warm, cosy environment in winter while the thick walls and tile floors ensure a cool home during the summer months.

(7)

The top floor, under the huge, original larch beams has been created as the main living space to take advantage of the stunning views and the sense of space created by the roof. Picture windows access a large south and west facing balcony. The main entrance is on the middle floor which also has four double bedrooms each with its own shower, toilet and hand basin. On the lower floor is a single bedroom, a double bedroom and a master bedroom each with shower, toilet and hand basin (plus a bath in the master bedroom), and a utility room with an oil fired boiler and laundry facilities. The master bedroom has its own exit to a terrace with access to the garden.

The house is built into the side of the mountain, so the garden is on several levels. At the middle floor level is a wooden terrace where the hot tub is situated. This terrace sits above the original cave which is accessed through a door in the original old stone wall supporting the terrace. The garden continues down below the chalet. Currently it is uncultivated except for a vegetable plot.

(9)

The chalet is a 3-storey building with 200m2 of habitable space on a plot of 960m2. The construction is solid stone walls with a lauze (local stone) roof. The walls and roof are fully insulated to a high specification and it has oil fired under-floor heating on every floor.

Resort information – Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise

Sainte-Foy is a charming village about midway between Bourg St Maurice and Tignes and the ski “station” of Sainte-Foy is at an altitude of 1550m and about 8km from the village and the Hotel Monal.

Sainte-Foy is a true Alpine village, as opposed to a ski resort, a hamlet which opened its first lift in 1991 and is still in its infancy. It has enough skiing of it's own to keep an advanced skier happy and offers unlimited and varied off-Piste skiing in a beautiful un spoilt wilderness.

Winter

If you judge a resort on the quality of its skiing rather than number of lifts or km of piste, Ste Foy scores a perfect 10 out of 10 with three chair lifts rising from the resort at 1550m to 2,620m and giving access to a fabulous, raw and exciting ski area with no crowds and no queues. La Rosière at 1850m has 150km of sunny skiing including Italy. If you like cruising on miles of pistes, Sainte Foy is easily accessible to the nearby “mega-resorts” of Val d’Isère and Les Arcs and a day skiing in these resorts is included in the Saint Foy lift pass. Access to Les Arcs is from Valroger (2km from Sainte-Foy village) and Val d’Isère (from Tignes 20 minutes by car).

(12)

Summer

This hamlet is ideal for peace, quiet, and relaxing walks in magnificent scenery. There is plenty to do in the area so your summers will be as pleasurable as the winters.
