he conference´s main goal is to summarize

the “state-of-the-art” and the future of some

relevant topics of gastroenterologic interest.

As we all know, it is not unusual even for

ga-stroenterology specialists to focus their

inte-rest, and therefore their participation, on very

specific areas in the vast field of the

gastro-enterologic body of knowledge. For this

re-ason, those whose principal field of interest

happens to be hepatology tend to gravitate

almost exclusively around hepatology

con-ventions, while endoscopists are inclined to

attend endoscopy events.

This conference, striving to emphasize the

singleness of the gastroenterologic science,

deals – in the tree sessions in which it is

di-vided – with reveral aspects of the digestive

system diseases in order to provide a

bene-ficial and rewarding update even those of us

who rarely stray away from their chosen area

of interest.

The topics have been selected to fullfil the

update request made by the physicians at the

Gastroenterology Department ad the Bolzano

Hospital, and they will presented in the form

of lectures according to knowledge based on

evidence.

The lectures, given by some of the most

ex-perienced international specialists, will try to

provide and exhaustive picture of the present

body of knowledge. Each lecture will be

fol-lowed by an ample discussion to which other

experts in that particular area will also

contri-bute.

How to reach Bolzano-Bozen:

Bolzano-Bozen, the capital of South Tyrol – elev. 265 m. – is situated in a vast, sunny basin where the Adige-Etsch and Isarco-Eisack River Valleys meet. It is surrounded by rolling hills, overlooked by that in-comparable Dolomite backdrop, “Il Catinaccio-Ro-sengarten”. Thanks to its geographical position at the centre of Europe (it is about the same distance form Paris, Berlin, Vienna or Naples) on the north-south axis along the Brenner Railway (Munich-Vero-na) and the Brenner Motorway, Bolzano-Bozen can easily be reached from all directions, by car or by train. Flights: Bolzano-Bozen airport is daily connec-ted with Rome. Others airports for regularly schedu-led flights are the ones in Innsbruck (125 km), Vero-na (148 km), Milan (275 km) and Munich (300 km). A note about names: don’t get confused! South Tyrol is a trilingual province. All Towns, villages, rivers, valleys, most streets and buildings have at least two names, an Italian one and a German one, while those in val-leys where Ladin is spoken have a third one as well.

From 29th November to 23rd December, in Wal-ther Square will take place the traditional appoin-tment of advent: the Christmas Market with all the typical atmosphere of the preparation of Chri-stmas. The scents of the wine and the christmas pastry shop are stirred to the sounds of christmas music in an indeed only concert. Rich program of animation in the week-end in the Walther Square.
