It is quite difficult to duplicate your present IT infrastructure in need of a disaster recovery site. While you understand the paramount importance of the “Business Continuity” you are with out a solution due to your tight corporate IT budget. Am I without a relief? Is my business is under risk? How can I get out of the trap? are the typical questions that burns the minds of business owners as well as of CIOs.

You have one answer. That is none other than the virtualizing of your current IT infrastructure. It helps you to duplicate the current infrastructure using a fraction of cost that required for the physical duplication of your existing hardware and software infrastructure. VSIS Disaster Recovery Infrastructure is based on virtualization and it can relive you from the risk of not having a “Business Continuity” plan.

We haven't re-invented the wheel again. Yet we have engineered our solution with this world class products. Foundation of our solution is Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. You can simply call it as RHEV. Since it can not do any thing without the hardware we are offering it with the industry standard servers and storage solutions. Our solution is completely supported on HP, IBM, and Dell servers and storage.

You already aware that there are many choices in the market as virtualization solutions. You may wonder why we have selected Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization as our foundation.

Features of RHEV

Live Migration

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization includes Live Migration, which provides the ability to move a running virtual machine between physical hosts with no interruption to service.

Live Migration is transparent to the end user. The virtual machine remains powered on and user applications continue to run while the virtual machine is relocated to a new physical host.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) allows the administrator to:

✔ Perform hardware maintenance without application downtime.

✔ Relocate a virtual machine to a new host to dynamically balance resources within a cluster. ✔ Migrate a virtual machine from a host that may be

experiencing a soft-failure

✔ Move a virtual machine to a new host to free up resources to allocate to other virtual machines.

(4)

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager continually monitors the physical host server systems. In the event of a hardware failure, any virtual machine configured to be highly available will be restarted on another host in the cluster.

System Scheduler

The Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization System Scheduler manages the allocation of physical resources within the virtual data center.

The System Scheduler continually monitors the utilization of host systems and virtual machines, dynamically managing the placement of virtual machines within the data center based on policies defined by the system administrator.

Power Saver

“Power Saver” extends the System Scheduler to add policies to reduce power consumption by consolidating more virtual machines onto a smaller number of physical hosts. Since most organizations size their infrastructure to cope with their peak capacity requirements, during off peak hours, such as nights and weekends the extra physical capacity is consuming expensive physical resources such as power and cooling. The administrator configures the minimum service level at which the Power Saver policy is triggered. For example if the utilization of a single host goes down to 10% for 20 minutes or more then System

Scheduler will use live migration to relocate the virtual machines running on this host to other hosts in the cluster.

Image Manger

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Image Manager includes a powerful set of features for creating and managing virtual machine images.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Image Manager includes ✔ Thin provisioning – allowing administrators to more

efficiently utilize their storage

✔ Snapshots – creating a “point in time” image of a virtual machine's storage, allowing the administrator to roll back the virtual machines state

✔ Templates – enabling users to rapidly provisioning virtual machines based on master images stored in a central image library

Maintenance Manager

Maintenance Manager will alert the administrator when an upgraded version of the hypervisor software is available and allow the administrator to perform a “one-click” update.

Maintenance Manager provides a secure and reliable mechanism for upgrading the physical host systems.

✔ If virtual machines are running on the hypervisor, they will be automatically relocated to other hypervisors in the cluster using Live Migration.

✔ In the case of failure the hypervisor will roll back to the previous software release

Upgrade can be initiated from the graphical user

i

nterface or scripted from the command line for large scale automation

Maintenance manager allows organizations to reduce

administration and maintenance costs by minimizing the need for expensive out-of-hours maintenance windows.

Perform server maintenance during regular working hours instead of paying over-time for late night or weekend operations all without an interruption to service.

Maintenance Manager is included within all editions of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.

Memory Overcommitment

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization can allocate more virtual memory to its VMs than the host has physical memory.

Page Sharing

Memory page sharing allows VMs with like operating systems to share physical memory to store redundant memory pages.

Severity Priority Severity 1- A severity one (1) issue is a

catastrophic production problem which may severely impact the client's production systems, or in which client's production systems are down or not functioning; loss of production data and no procedural work around exists.

Urgent

Severity 2 - A severity two (2) issue is a problem where the client's system is

functioning but in a severely reduced capacity. The situation is causing significant impact to portions of the client's business operations and productivity. The system is exposed to potential loss or interruption of service.

High

Severity 3 - A severity three (3) issue is a medium-to-low impact problem which involves partial non-critical functionality loss. One which impairs some operations but allows the client to continue to function. This may be a minor issue with limited loss or no loss of functionality or impact to the client's operation and issues in which there is an easy circumvention or avoidance by the end user. This includes documentation errors.

Medium

Severity 3 - A severity four (4) issue is for a general usage question or recommendation for a future product enhancement or modification. There is no impact on the quality, performance or functionality of the product.
