BWise 4.1 is a comprehensive and scalable Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) platform that consists of one or more servers.

The server with the BWise software consists of: - An application server

- A database server

- A reporting server (reports generated with Crystal Reports Server Embedded®

Application Server

Server Hardware Requirements

The minimum system requirements for a server equipped with BWise 4.1 SP3.5 are:

Operating system Windows Server 2003®

with SP1 or later (32 and 64 bit), Windows Server 2008® (32 and 64 bit) or Windows Server 2008® R2 (64 bit).

Processor A recent dual core processor.

Memory 4 GB RAM.

Available hard-disk space

 1.5 GB for the application server.

 10 GB for the database server (depends of course on usage).  10 GB for a reporting server if SAP BusinessObjects is used. Note: SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform 4.0 requires a 64-bit OS. When you install the software on a virtual machine (VMware should be running on ESX Server), the system requirements are at least 25% higher than the requirements for a dedicated server mentioned above.

Additional Server Software Requirements

The software requires the Oracle Java SE 6 Development Kit (JDK). The BWise 4.1 Server installation includes JDK release 1.6.0_33. Do not update the installed JDK release as BWise 4.1 might not support the update version.

The use of a dedicated reporting server is recommended. BWise 4.1 Server automatically installs Crystal Reports Server Embedded®

(version 2008 SP3) for reporting. It is also possible to use SAP BusinessObjects. BWise 4.1 SP3.5 supports SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3, SP5, and SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform 4.0.

You must use SAP BusinessObjects for Web-i integration. The basic SAP BusinessObjects deployment requires the installation of Tomcat 6. Please refer to the BOE XI 3.1 SP3 Installation Guide for guidelines on how to deploy SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3. For additional system requirements, refer to the SAP BusinessObjects documentation or website.

BWise Server software can run on a virtual machine and supports:

 VMware®

4i - 5.0.0 (must be running on ESX Server).

 Microsoft Hyper-VTM

Server 2008 R2.

Supported Databases

 Microsoft SQL Server® 2005 SP2 and SP3, 2008 R2.

 Oracle®

version 10G and 11G.

Important: The add-on modules Continuous Monitoring and Audit Analytics only support SQL Server.

Network

BWise recommends at least a 1 Gbit network connection between the application server and the database server. This also applies to BWise Servers in a multiple server environment.

If the database and the BWise application are on the same machine, the connection is faster than on separate machines.

Client Systems

End-User Client System Requirements

Functionality is tested and guaranteed for Microsoft Internet Explorer®

(version 6 SP2, 7, 8 or 9), FireFox®

(version 3.6x and higher), and Google ChromeTM

(version 12 and higher).

When using drag & drop reporting (Universes with Web-I integration), the client system requires Java Runtime Environment version 1.5 or 1.6 (recommended). Please note that the client system may contain only one installed Java version.

The diagram editor and BWise 4.1 Builder require a secure connection via HTTP and cannot connect to a server that has been set up to use HTTPS only.

Builder Client System Requirements

The minimum system requirements for a client using BWise 4.1 Builder are:
