Cuesta College - Notice To Contractors For Prequalification 2015 NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

Notice is hereby given that San Luis Obispo County Community College District, (“District”) is accepting sealed Informal Bidding Prequalification Applications and Formal Bidding Prequalification Applications for both Measure L Projects and applicable Facilities maintenance projects from qualified DIR Registered Contractors. Completed Applications will be received by the District in the Blach Construction Office ATTN: Angela Fry, Bldg. 7400 Highway One San Luis Obispo, CA 93403- 8106. Please visit the Districts Website at http://cuestacollegebond.info to obtain the Prequalification Application forms. Should you have questions or are unable to download the Prequalification documents Please contact Kathe Culberson at (805) 250-2999.

Bid Description

Projects may include construction, reconstruction, modernization, renovation, alteration, improvement, demolition, repair and/or maintenance work at the District’s San Luis Obispo campus, Cuesta College, or its North County Center in Paso Robles. Prequalified Contractors shall be qualified for one year,

commencing December 2015 and continuing through December 2016. Solicitation of bids from

prequalified contractors may be scheduled for multiple projects from December 2015 through December 2016.

The “Informal Bidding” prequalification only prequalifies contractors for public projects, as defined in Public Contract Code § 22002(c), including, without limitation, maintenance and/or construction projects up to $175,000 “B” List.” The “Formal bidding” prequalification prequalifies contractors for projects over $175,000 which is the “A” list, as well as informal bid projects under $175,000. All contractor prequalification approval is subject to the requirements of the Prequalification Application.

Prequalification of Contractors

In order to qualify, contractors must possess a current and active license to perform the work listed for their specific trade, completed Contractor/Subcontractor Registration with the California DIR, submit the required Prequalification Application and subsequently be pre-qualified. The following trades are being pre-qualified; however, not all trades will be utilized on every project:

Asbestos & Selective Demolition B or C21, with ASB license required

Cabinet and Millwork C6 license required

Carpet & Resilient Flooring C15 license required

Concrete C8 license required

Doors and Hardware C28 license required

Drywall C9 license required

Electrical C10 license required

Elevator C11 license required Fencing C13 license required

Final Cleaning D63 license required

Fire Protection C16 license required

Food Service Equipment B license required (for installation)

General Trades B license required (must self-perform carpentry)

Glass & Glazing C17 license required

HVAC C20 license required

Insulation & Acoustical C2 license required Landscape C27 license required

Project Requirements

Contracts over $25,000 will require a 100% performance bond, a 100% labor and materials bond, and bidder may be required to furnish a bid bond in the amount of 10% of the submitted bid. All projects are subject to the Prevailing Wage Rages, California Labor Code, California Public Contract Code and the Department of Industrial Relations. Contractors who have been prequalified may be required to submit certifications of compliance with the procedures for implementation of the Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise Contracting Goals. Contractors are allowed according to Public Contract Code § 22300 to submit “securities of lieu of retention”.

Note that the prequalification process does not constitute an agreement with the District, nor is it an obligation upon the District to enter any agreements.

Bid Description

Contractor and Vendor Workshop

A workshop to assist contractors with the application process and to answer any questions about the program and prequalification status will be held on October 28, 2015 at 1:00 PM, Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo Campus, Room 5401.
