Pre-Academy Physical Fitness

Pre-Academy Physical Fitness Course is designed to prepare students for the physical aspects of the police academy course approved by the California Commission on Peace Officer's Standards and Training (POST). Students will perform various physical exercises including the POST-mandated physical agility test (99-yard agility run, body drag, six-foot solid wall, six-foot chain link fence & 500-yard run), cardiovascular endurance exercises, and various calisthenics. Proper body mechanics, techniques, and conditioning principles will be applied with an emphasis on proper nutrition and injury prevention.

Police Academy - Regular Basic Course (RBC)

This course provides the fundamentals of basic police training in compliance with the minimum standards established by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
The training includes community based policing concepts, techniques, and observation of application. Letter grade only. Not transferable, AA/AS degree only.

Basic knowledge and skills in compliance with minimum standards to meet requirements established by the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) for persons serving as Specialized Investigators in the State of California. This class is offered as a Contract Education class and does not carry college credit units. Attendance is by permission only.
