Costing Theory Workshop
(1 day)This course provides a detailed overview of the costing process, including: ‐ patient costing benefits ‐ patient costing concepts ‐ patient costing processes ‐ setting up and processing in PPM2 ‐ reviewing results in PPM2.
Data Load
(1 day)The Data Load module processes data from diverse source systems into the PPM database for patient costing purposes, streamlining and improving the incoming data quality. This course covers the setup and processing of external source system data into the PPM database, including patient data, clinical data and financial data. Topics include: ‐ source system data specification ‐ pre‐processing ‐ reference and reference mapping setups ‐ setting up source systems and uploading files ‐ setting up linking rules and dummy encounters ‐ setting up validation rules ‐ activity settings ‐ processing source system data ‐ load, link, derive, delete ‐ scheduler.
GL Setup
(1 day) The GL Setup module configures general ledger data for patient costing. This course covers the setup and processing of a general ledger into a fully allocated GL. Topics include: ‐ defining a GL setup ‐ reference tables ‐ setting up accounts, allocation statistics, areas, cost centres, non‐standard cost centres, reclass rules, cost output mappings ‐ processing GL data stages – reclass rules, cost definitions, overhead allocations ‐ deleting GL data and setup configuration.Costing Dataset
(1 day)The Costing Dataset module builds encounter and service records from the Data Load module and allocated costs from the GL Setup module to each service. Topics include: ‐ defining a costing dataset and activity filter ‐ service building and mapping ‐ reference tables ‐ DRG and detailed weights ‐ setting up allocation methods and cost bucket mappings ‐ processing costing dataset stages – building services, mapping services, allocating costs. ‐ deleting activity data and costing datasets.
Revenue Rulesets (2 days)
The Rulesets module allows you to define business rules in Idiom and export them in a JAR file which is run by PPM. This course assumes familiarity with rule logic and trains you in the process of creating the rules and uploading them into PPM for execution. Topics include: ‐ setup rules in Idiom ‐ maintain rules in Idiom ‐ inline testing and test executive ‐ release rules from Idiom ‐ setup rules in PPM ‐ test and activate.
Reporting

Accommodation Invoicing
(4 hours)This course instructs users in the processing of accommodation invoices. Topics include: ‐ discharged & interim accomm invoice runs ‐ invoicing for dialysis patients ‐ mental health accommodation invoice runs ‐ manually raising accommodation invoices ‐ post‐raising activities ‐ accommodation rate variance.
Inpatient Medical Billing
(3 hours)This course instructs users in the processing of inpatient medical billing. Note it does not include accommodation billing. Topics include: ‐ log invoice entry ‐ pharmacy billing ‐ prosthesis billing ‐ MBS/AMA billing ‐ miscellaneous billing.
Outpatient Invoicing
(3 hours)This course instructs users in the processing of invoices for outpatients. Topics include: ‐ outpatient clinic attendance & invoicing ‐ outpatient batch entry ‐ clinic billing.
Receipting
(5 hours) This course instructs users in using a receipt batch to receipt payment and allocate them to invoices. Topics include: ‐ general receipting ‐ cashier receipting ‐ back office receipting ‐ refund processing ‐ managing prepayments ‐ managing cash adjustments.Bank Reconciliation
(1 hour)This course instructs users in the process of reconciling amounts from the hospital bank statement against those shown in on internal sources (eg PBRC batches) and external system sources. (2 hours) This course instructs users in the processing of electronic claims for Medicare and participating Health Funds, using ECLIPSE. Topics include: ‐ online functionality ‐ patient eligibility checks ‐ SimpBill reports ‐ ECLIPSE overview ‐ error correction ‐ managing rejections.Debt Recovery

(2 hours)This course is directed at all PBRC users, and introduces each new user to the system, and how to interact with it. Front Office
(2 days)This course is directed at cashiers and other front office users, who have face‐to‐face contact with customers. Topics include: ‐ general receipting ‐ refunds ‐ waivers ‐ invoices ‐ statements ‐ cashier report.
Back Office 1: Introduction
(½ day)This course is directed at back office users, and covers general concepts and tasks. Topics include: ‐ worklists ‐ simple searches (barcode scan, quick search) ‐ billing entities, linked records ‐ updating records ‐ merging duplicate records ‐ printing ‐ advanced searches (entity, transaction, waiver).
Back Office 2: Accounts
(½ day)This course is directed at back office users, and covers detailed accounts concepts and tasks. Topics include: ‐ charges ‐ adjustments ‐ transactions ‐ thresholds ‐ write‐offs ‐ printing ‐ statements.
Back Office 3: Invoicing
(½ day)This course is directed at back office users, and covers detailed invoicing concepts and tasks. Topics include: ‐ receipting ‐ allocation ‐ refunds ‐ waivers ‐ credit memos, debit memos ‐ write‐offs ‐ sundry debtors.
Back Office 4: Process Review
(½ day)This course is directed at back office users, and covers detailed process review concepts and tasks. Topics include: ‐ uninvoiced charges ‐ unresolved charges ‐ unallocated receipts ‐ waivers ‐ authorising transactions ‐ monitoring transactions ‐ debt recovery ‐ check funds flow.
Reporting for Users
(2 hours)The Reporting module runs automated reports and e‐ mails regular PDFs to users. In addition to the e‐mails, users can also log in and access the reports interactively using a web browser. This course instructs users of the Reporting functions on topics such as: ‐ logging in, navigating the report window ‐ running reports ‐ maintaining report notes ‐ exporting reports ‐ scheduling a custom run for a report.
Admin: Reporting
(3 hours) The Reporting module runs automated reports and sends regular PDF reports to users by e‐mail. In addition to the e‐mailed reports, users can also log in and access the reports interactively using a web browser. This course instructs system administrators on how to setup the reporting system using Central Reporting Services and Executive Reporting. Central Reporting Services Admin topics include: ‐ setting up user groups ‐ setting up user accounts ‐ setting up location security ‐ resetting a user’s password ‐ monitoring users ‐ setting up alerts, e‐mails and SMS notifications. (2 hours)The PBRC Reference Tables contain standard values used to populate selection lists throughout the system. This course instructs an administrator on how to: ‐ setup reference tables ‐ setup entity attachments ‐ add an entity tab and reorder the tab set ‐ create entity extra fields ‐ setup hospital‐defined numbers for manually created entities.
