the “Mentor Teacher” or they need both.

employee of the district.

• The TOR must be a Michigan certified and

properly endorsed teacher.

(STW)-• Since all two-way communication must take place

between a TOR or a mentor teacher and the pupil, and a TOR must be assigned to the pupil, it would be logical to make the TOR and the mentor one and the same.

Use of permits under

STW-• A substitute permit is designed to be a temporary

placement to fill a vacant position on a short-term basis.

• The use of a permitted substitute teacher as a

mentor does not eliminate the requirement that a Michigan certified teacher, employed by the

district, be assigned to the pupil as the TOR.
