Welcome to Norton Small Business

Thank you for choosing Norton Small Business! You can now protect your small business or home office with the latest Norton security products. This guide walks you through how to set up your Norton Small Business and helps you familiarize yourself with the main tasks of your subscription.

Choose your role and get started:

1 If you are an account owner, See“Are you a Norton

Your role includes managing the installs, maintaining the subscription, and monitoring the devices. Learn how best you can help your employees with Norton Small Business.

About Norton Small Business

Norton Small Business is a subscription that lets you protect your devices with the latest Norton security products. The device can be a Windows or Mac computer, or a mobile. You can manage all the tasks from a single point.

can protect up to 10 devices with any of these Norton security products.

As an account owner, you can do the following:

1 Manage your installs – Transfer your Norton

product from one device to another on the fly.

1 Monitor your devices – Know the security status

of your devices and take appropriate action.

1 Send invites – Get Norton installed on your

employees’ device by sending them an invite.

1 Manage your subscription – Buy more seats or

renew your subscription online.

How do I access my Norton Small Business

account?

If you purchased Norton Small Business from your service provider, you don't need to create a separate administrator account.

If your service provider enabled single sign-on, you can conveniently manage your installations, add seats, and renew your existing subscription from your service provider's website. You can access Norton from your service provider's website.

To access Norton account

1 Visit your service provider’s website.

2 Sign in using your existing user name and password. 3 Click Norton Small Business to access your Norton

account.

However, if your service provider has not been enabled for single sign-on, you will have to create your Norton account. You can create a Norton account with a valid email address. Symantec sends the product updates and other information related to your account to this email address.

To create a Norton account

1 Open your browser, and go to the following URL: https://manage.norton.com

2 Click Create an Account.

3 In the Create an account page, in the Email

address box, type your email address. You need to

specify this email address each time you log on to Norton.

4 In the Confirm email address box, type your email address again.

5 In the Password box, type a password.

Password is case-sensitive and must be between 6 and 50 characters in length.

6 In the First Name and Last Name text boxes, type your first name and last name.

7 In the Region drop-down list, select your country or region.

8 Click Create Account.

Installing a Norton product on your device

To get the best out of Norton Small Business, you need to install Norton security products that came with your subscription on all your devices. As an account owner, you can send invites to your employees to install Norton product on their devices too.

To install a Norton security product on the current device

1 Sign in to your service provider's website. 2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 In the page that appears, click Download Norton. 4 Click Install on this device tab and then click Agree

& Download.

5 Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

To install a Norton security product on another device 1 Sign in to your service provider's website. 2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 In the page that appears, click Download Norton. 4 Click Install on another device tab.

5 Enter the email address that you can access on the device in which you want to install the product. 6 Click the send icon.

Norton sends an email with instructions, specific to your platform, for installing the Norton security product.

7 Open the email that you received, click the Install

Norton link, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Sending invites to your employees

You can install Norton products that came with your subscription on any device by sending an email. So, you need not be on-site every time to install a Norton product on your office device. When your employees click the set up link in the email, the Norton product gets installed on their devices. Once the Norton product gets installed, you can manage the devices using your Norton account.

Before sending an invite, ensure that you have enough seats available for installation.

The invite that you send is valid only for 10 days. After which, the Install Norton link in the invitation expires. You need to re-send the invitation to get the Norton security product installed on the device.

To send an invite to your employee

1 Sign in to your service provider's website. 2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 On the Devices page, click Send Invites. 4 Enter the email address of your employee.

If you want to send the invite to multiple employees, separate the email addresses with a semicolon. 5 Click the send icon.

6 In the confirmation dialog, click Done. Norton sends an email to your employee with instructions, specific to the device platform, for installing the Norton product.

Manage your devices

As an account owner, you need to know the security status of each device associated with your Norton Small Business. If any device is at risk, you can even fix them remotely from your service provider's website. You can see the following details:

1 Norton products installed on the device 1 Security status of the device

1 Email address of the device user (only for Windows

and mobile)

1 Online status of the device

“Manage your installs”on page 10. To know the status of your device

1 Sign in to your service provider's website.

2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 On the Devices page, move your mouse pointer over the device that you are interested in.

You can filter the devices by operating system or type.

4 View the status and take appropriate action.

Manage your installs

If you no longer use a device or your device is lost, you can remove the device associated with your subscription. When you remove a device, the Norton product installed on the device becomes inactive.

Even if you remove a device from your account, the Norton product still remains on the device. You can choose either to retain the Norton product if you plan to use the device sometime later or to uninstall the Norton product from the device.

To remove a device from your account 1 Sign in to your service provider's website. 2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 On the Devices page, move your mouse pointer over the device that you want to remove. You can filter the devices by operating system or type. 4 Click the trash icon next to the device name. 5 In the Remove Device confirmation dialog box, click

OK. Once the device is removed, the number of seats

available for you to use gets increased by one.

Buy more Norton Small Business seats

With Norton Small Business subscription, you can protect your home office or small business with the latest Norton security products. The number of devices that you can protect depends on the total number of seats that you have purchased. If you have purchased 10 seats, you can protect up to 10 devices. In case you

have more devices, you can buy additional seats any time within the subscription period. Once you have additional seats, you can add a device just like how you did with your earlier seats. For more information on adding a device, See“Installing a Norton product on your device”on page 7.

When you buy additional seats, you are not extending your Norton Small Business subscription. But, you are adding more seats to your current subscription. So, the remaining days left with all your seats, including the ones that you bought additionally, remain the same. To buy more seats for your subscription

1 Sign in to your service provider's website. 2 Click Norton Small Business.

3 On the Devices page, under Installs Remaining, click Buy More.

4 Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase.

The below content assists you in using Norton Small Business. Learn how best you can make use of Norton Small Business.

How does Norton Small Business help you?

Your account owner has chosen Norton Small Business to protect your devices. Norton Small Business is a subscription that lets you protect your devices with the latest Norton security products. The device can be a Windows or Mac computer, or a mobile. You get advanced protection that safeguards your device from security threats.

All you need to do is install the Norton product as advised by your account owner. You can continue using

the device as before and at the same time, enjoy the protection from Norton.

Accepting an invite from an account owner

To be protected from online threats, you need to accept the invitation that your account owner has sent you. You need to open the email invite from the device on which you want to install the product. The invite that you received is valid only for 10 days. After which, the Install

Norton link in the invitation expires. You need to request

your account owner to re-send the invitation to get Norton security product on your device.

The product gets automatically activated after the installation process. If you have any problems during installation or activation, See“Solving common problems with Norton Small Business”on page 13.

Your device should be connected to the Internet to download and install the product. Ensure that parental and firewall settings are not blocking the Internet connection.

To accept and install the Norton product on your device 1 Open the invite email that you received.

If you cannot find the email in your Inbox, check your Spam folder.

2 Click the Install Norton link.

For mobile devices, you will be directed to the appropriate App Store. For Windows and Mac, the Norton product gets downloaded.

3 Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation. The installation usually takes less than

a minute.

Solving common problems with Norton

Small Business

Sometimes you may have problems while installing the Norton security product on your device. This section helps you solve them:

Common problems

1 The Install Norton link in the email did not work

The Install Norton link is valid only for 10 days from the date you received the invitation from your account owner. If you have not accepted the invitation within the stipulated time, please request your account owner to resend the invite.

1 Activation did not complete

This may occur if you have a slow Internet connection. Product installation and activation should complete within 30 minutes after you click the Install

Norton link in your email invite. If it takes beyond

the stipulated time, product activation may fail. In this case, you need to request your account owner to send you a new invite.

1 I see a renewal alert

There is nothing wrong if you see a renewal alert. Your account owner handles the subscription for

Norton Small Business. Before the subscription expires, your account owner will renew the subscription so that your device is protected always. In case, you get renewal alerts while using your device, please inform your account owner about the alert.

Turning on or turning off Remote

Management

When the Remote Management option is turned on, your Norton product sends product activity details to your Norton account. Your account owner uses this information to fix some security issues. By default, the Remote Management option is turned off.

To turn on or turn off Remote Management on Windows 1 In the Norton product main window, click Settings. 2 In the Settings window, under Detailed Settings,

click Administrative Settings.

3 In the Remote Management row, do one of the following:

1 To turn on Remote Management, move the

On/Off switch to the left to the On position.

1 To turn off Remote Management, move the

On/Off switch to the right to the Off position.

To turn on or turn off Remote Management on Mac 1 In the Norton product main window, click Advanced. 2 On the left pane, click Product Settings.

3 In the Remote Management row, do one of the following:
