What we expect of parents to keep everyone safe
• Do not come to school or send your child to school if your child, you or anyone in your family has symptoms of or has tested positively for Coronavirus for fourteen days; or have been contacted by test and trace and told to self isolate. Follow the COVID-19 :guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection
• To access testing, parents are able to use the 111 online coronavirus service or through the NHS website here
• Your child / children should be accompanied by one adult to school, unless you have
completed the written permission letter acknowledging and signed to say both you and your child understand what is expected to ensure social distancing and the integrity of your child’s class “bubble” is maintained. Until the Academy has received a signed copy of this letter, your child will be unable to walk home alone.
• Where staggered entry and home times are planned and you have more than one child, parents should wait safely and socially distanced on the playground with their child until the allocated drop off / collection time. Please do not allow your child or younger siblings to run around and mix with other groups of children.
• You must only use the entrances and exits indicated on the attached site map, SLT will be available on the first few days to ensure everyone is confident of where to go.
Times of entry for each year group are:
Year 6: 8.30am Collect 2.40pm
Year 5: 8.40am Collect 2.50pm
Year 4: 8.50am Collect 3.00pm

Drop off and collection points
• All Junior Academy children should enter via the Junior Academy gate and not walk across the car park. Please follow the pink arrows through the second Junior Academy gate and round to your child’s classroom at the allocated time. Please ensure your child uses the steps or ramp indicated.
• Children will be dropped off at the classroom door (see map) and collected from this area too. Please do not wait on the balcony but maintain a safe social distance on the playground (Volans, Draco, Aquila, Delphinus, Pegasus, Cygnus) or the grassed areas nearby (Corvus, Lynx and Hydra).
• You should maintain social distancing around all other adults whilst on your way to and from school and whilst on the school site. There will be indications of the 2m distances expected as you enter the site.
• Families should notify the school as normal if their child is unable to attend.
• If you need to speak to your child’s teacher at length, please telephone or email the office to make an appointment.
• If you need to speak to someone in the school office, please telephone or email rather than visit the office. Only one person at a time can be safely accommodated in the entrance foyer. All visitors are by pre-arranged appointment only.
• Please exit via the Junior Academy gate (the way you came in) unless you have a child at Sawtry Infants school and need to take them there. Access between the two school
playgrounds is now possible providing parents keep their Infant School child with them and maintain social distancing with Infants school parents and pupils. The middle gate between the two schools (next to Draco class) will no longer be used.
• To avoid congestion and mixing of bubbles by the storage sheds, scooters and bikes cannot be brought in.
What we will be doing in school to keep everyone safe
• From September all children will be in single class bubbles. To minimise contact, the children will be just in their class with their teacher and TA. Staff are able to move between bubbles but we have organised our plans to keep this to a minimum. At break times and lunch times children will be just with their class on the playground or field outside.
• We will be providing a full curriculum, but some activities will be restricted or adapted in line with DFE guidelines eg, use of equipment for PE, assemblies no longer in the hall, avoidance of activities involving singing or shouting.
• Classrooms will be adapted to ensure pupils are able to be distanced safely where possible. • Staggered entry and exit times – to enable effective social distancing for parents and pupils
at the school.

doing the daily mile. To protect your child from the sun, suncream should be applied before school and sunhats must be brought in.
Your child should bring in their own named water bottle which must be taken home each night or they may bring in a named disposable water bottle which will be thrown away at the end of each day.
If your child is sensitive to the school hand wash or hand sanitiser, please provide your child with sufficient quantities of their own (clearly labelled with their name). This must not be shared with anyone else. Each class has a supply of tissues, however you may send in your child with their own named packet.
Your child may bring in a healthy snack such as a fruit or pot of veg sticks to eat at breaktime. If your child would like a hot meal, these need to be booked and paid for in advance in the normal way via ParentPay. Families eligible for free school meals must also pre-book their child’s meal. Instructions for booking have been emailed in July. Please contact us for guidance if you are unable to book.
Your child will be able to change their reading books as we will have a system to ensure books are left for a minimum of 72 hours and sanitised before they are re-shelved.
Pencil cases are not required. All equipment will be provided and labelled to avoid any cross-contamination
Children will not be required to wear facemasks in school and unless your child comes to school on public transport it is not required. However, if you prefer your child to wear a mask on the journey to and from school, you must provide your child with a sealed bag (ie sandwich bag or zipped purse) for it to be stored in during the day.
Wraparound care
It will not be possible under the new guidance for Junior Academy children to attend Kidzone as schools or settings cannot be mixed on site. It has been agreed that for September 2020 all Junior Academy children who require wraparound care will be able to attend Kimbles out of school club. Pupils attending other wraparound settings can continue to do so. We request that parents who are using any wrapround inform us of the setting that is being attended. This will facilitate test and trace.
Attendance
COVID response document 7
Parent Information - SJA
All children will be expected to attend school.
The Government will be reinstating the legislation which means that attendance at school will be mandatory. From September the normal rules for school attendance will apply including:
• Parents duty to ensure that their child attends school
• School’s responsibilities to record attendance and follow up absence
• Fines for non-attendance may be issued as fixed penalty notices in line with the local authority’s code of conduct.
This is in line with the wider lifting of lock down restrictions. We will be working over the summer to ensure that the necessary changes are made and systems put in place to ensure that the school is COVID secure, in line with government and Public Health England guidance, and safe for all children and staff to return.
If you have any concerns about your child returning to school in September, please contact the school directly to discuss your individual circumstances.
