VERIPATROL Client

User Guide

Overview

VERIPATROL is a secure software system for the storage, retrieval and management of video

files from VIEVU cameras. This guide describes how to operate the VERIPATROL Client

application. The Client application is designed for general users of the VERIPATROL system.

Log In

STARTING THE VERIPATROL CLIENT APPLICATION

To start the VERIPATROL Client application, double click on the “VIEVU Client” icon located on the desktop. Alternatively the program can be started by clicking “Start”, selecting “All Programs”, selecting “VIEVU VERIPATROL” and clicking on “VERIPATROL Client.”

Contact your Program Administrator for a Login and Password.

After entering your Login and Password, Click “OK”.

If you have forgot your password, click the “Forgot Password?” link.

The VERIPATROL Client application console opens.

Videos

DOWNLOADING VIDEO

To download videos from a camera, connect all ends of the supplied cable to the camera and the computer. Turn the camera “ON”.

Click the “Download Videos From Camera” button located on the bottom of the window.

The Video annotation window will appear. If you wish to watch and document the video during

download select “Yes”. If you do not wish to annotate the videos during download select “No”.

The VidLock security window will appear.

If the camera has not been assigned prior to download, the following message will appear. Contact your program

administrator for assistance.

If video annotation was selected, the annotation window will appear. Select a category, add a case number, add comments, mark the video to never be deleted or for lockdown. When finished, click the “Next Video” button

Note: The camera must be connected to the computer and in the “ON” position to be downloaded. The cable requires two USB ports. You must connect both the USB and RS-232 connectors to USB ports on the computer. A USB hub can be used if needed.

to move to the next video.

If video annotation was not selected, the file download window will appear.

Once the download is complete, the video files are removed from the camera.

The VERIPATROL Client Application window will now display a list containing all of the videos that have been uploaded.

It is now safe to turn off and disconnect the camera from the computer.

PLAYING VIDEOS

To play a video, highlight the video and click the “Play” button located at the bottom.

You can also double click a video to play it.

The video playback window opens.

You can play the video, fast forward, or rewind the video. Use the slider bar to navigate to the desired portion of the video.

Click the red “X” located on the top right to close the video and return to the video list.

PRINT VIDEO SCREENSHOT

To print a screenshot of a video file first begin playback of the video file. Next, click the “Pause” button located at the lower left of the screen at the desired point of the video.

While the video is paused, click the “Print” button at the top right of the window

A print dialog window will appear. The print out will contain additional information such as the file name, the user who printed the document and the time the document was printed.

SELECTING A VIDEO CATEGORY

To select a video category, highlight the video and click the “Add Details” button located in the lower left corner.

The File Information window will appear.

Select the desired category from the Category drop down box.

When finished click the “Apply” button located in the lower left corner.

The category that was selected will now be visible in the “Category” column.

Note: To obtain an electronic

screenshot use the ‘Print Screen’ button on your keyboard.

ADDING A CASE NUMBER TO VIDEOS

To add a case number to a video, highlight the video and click the “Add Details” button located in the lower left corner.

The File Information window will appear.

Enter a case number into the Case Number box.

When finished click the “Apply” button located in the lower left corner.

The case number is now visible in the “Case Number” column.

ADDING COMMENTS TO VIDEOS

To add comments to a video, highlight the video and click the “Add Details” button located in the lower left corner.

The File Information window will appear.

Enter any comments into the comments box.

When finished click the “Apply” button located in the lower left corner.

MARKING A VIDEO TO NEVER BE DELETED

To mark a video to never be deleted,

highlight the video and click the “Add Details” button located in the lower left corner.

The File Information window will appear.

Place a checkmark in “Never Delete This Video”.

When finished click the “Apply” button located in the lower left corner.

If a video has been set to never be deleted, the video will be listed in bold text in the video list.

Note: Videos that are not marked will be deleted based on the current retention period. Contact your Program

MARKING A VIDEO FOR LOCKDOWN

To mark a video for lockdown, highlight the video and click the “Add Details” button located in the lower left corner.

The File Information window will appear.

Place a checkmark in “Lockdown Video”.

When finished click the “Apply” button located in the lower left corner.

LOADING OLDER VIDEOS

When accessing the Client only the last 7 days of video files are displayed. To display older videos stored in the system, click the “Show More Videos” button located at the bottom of the window.

The Show More window will appear allowing you to select a time period.

Select the appropriate option or input a custom range.

Click the “Load” button.

MAKING COPIES OF VIDEOS

To make a copy of a video, click the “Videos” button located at the top of the window.

Highlight the video and click the “Make Copy” button.

The Make Copy window will appear.

Enter the purpose of the copy into the window.

The target directory lists the location where the video copy will be created.

Click the “Browse” button to select a different location.

Click on the location where the video copy should be created and click “OK.”

Click the “Copy” button to create the video copy.

A new video file will be visible in the target directory chosen.

If the “Export Master Log with Video Copies” feature is enabled, a text file will also be created. See the “Export Master Log with Video Copies” section in this document for further details.

Note: All copies of videos created from the VERIPATROL system will require the ffdshow codec to be installed on the computer for the video to be played. This codec can be downloaded from www.vievu.com.

EXPORT AUDIO COPY FOR TRANSCRIPTION

VERIPATROL provides the ability to export an audio only copy of a video file to submit for transcription through Net Transcripts.

To export an audio only copy, click the “Videos” button located at the top of the window.

Highlight the video and click the “Make Copy” button.

The Make Copy window will appear.

Enter the purpose of the copy into the window.

The target directory lists the location where the audio only copy will be created. Place a check mark in “Export Audio Only”

Click the “Browse” button to select a different location.

Click on the location where the audio only copy should be created and click “OK.”

Click the “Copy” button to create the video copy.

A new video file will be visible in the target directory chosen.

Visit http://nettranscripts.com/vievu/vievu-client-registration.htm and login with your secure credentials.

Upload the audio only copy to request transcription services.

Note: Net Transcripts is VIEVU’s exclusive transcription partner. Contact VIEVU or Net Transcripts for more information.

CREATE SECURE VIDEO LINKS

Secure links can be created for any video file stored in VERIPATROL Cloud. These secure, expiring links allow for effortless sharing of video files without burning copies onto a disc.

To create a video link, first begin playback of the video file. Next, click the “Pause” button located in the lower left of the screen.

Input the desired link

expiration Date/Time into the “Video Link” box at the top of the playback window.

Click the “Generate Link” button. A message will be given indicating the link has been copied to the clipboard. You may now “paste” the link into the desired location, such as an email.

VIEW FILTERING

The videos that are displayed on the Videos window may be filtered by Officer, Officer ID, category, case number or comment.

To enable filtering by Officer, select “Filtering by officer” in the filter box.

Select the officer in the “Officer” drop down box. Click on the “>” button to add the officer to the officer list box to the right. To remove an officer, highlight the officer and click the “<” button. The “>>” and “<<” buttons will add all users and remove all users.

Place a check mark in the “Enable filtering by Officer” check box. Once enabled, only videos uploaded by the selected officer will be displayed.

Note: Secure links allow playback of the video from any computer with internet access and the ffdshow codec installed. If you cannot watch the video, you may need to install the ffdshow codec. The ffdshow codec is available for download at

www.vievu.com.

VIEW FILTERING BY OFFICER ID

To enable filtering by Officer ID, select “Filtering by Officer ID” in the filter box.

Input the Officer ID in the Officer ID box. Click “Search”

VIEW FILTERING BY CATEGORY

To enable filtering by category, select “Filtering by category” in the filter box. Select a category from the drop down box. Click the “>” button to add the category to the box listed on the right. To remove a category, highlight the category and click the “<” button. The “>>” and “<<” buttons will add and remove all categories.

Place a check mark in the “Enable filtering category” check box. Once enabled, only videos that contain the selected categories will be displayed.

CHANGE VIEW PREFERENCES

Preferences

The Client program allows for customization of the user interface. Each user can decide which columns are displayed as well as how the thumbnails are presented.

To change the view preferences, click the “File” menu button on the top left corner and select “settings.”

The Settings window will appear.

Click the “File List Columns” tab. Add or remove checkmarks as necessary.

When finished click the “OK” button. The settings changes will be
