CA®/BrightStor ARCserve9™ Backup Software
The CA BrightStor ARCserve9 Backup program can be installed on the TANDBERG NAS and launched from a browser. You can use this software to manage either an autoloader or tape drive that comes with your TANDBERG NAS or any other network backup devices. Use CAArcServe9-1.7.service (version 4.2.2), CAArcServe9-1.13.service (version 5.0), or CAArcServe9-1.18.service (for version 5.1 or later) and the CABrightStor9.0.iso file. Both are available from TANDBERG. OS version 5.0 must be running on the NAS to support version 1.13. OS version 5.1 or later must be running on the NAS to support version 1.18. After an initial 30-day trial period, you must purchase feature-based license keys from an authorized Tandberg/CA reseller in order to continue using this software.Installing and Using the Service Program on the T

initial installation.
1. Select the Plugins option from the Backup menu. Disable any active backup service. If a CA universal agent (client
program) is listed, remove it first.
2. Select Add Plugin to show the Browse button.
3. Use the Browse button to open the Windows Choose File dialog shown in Figure 3. 4. Navigate to the CD ROM or
other location where the CA files have been placed. Select the CAArcServe9.service file and click Open. The filename appears in the Plugin File box (fig. 2).
5. Select Upload. Wait about thirty seconds for the “Operation Completed” message.
6. Click OK. This returns you to the initial Plugins dialog (Figure 4) where CA BrightStor ARCserve9 will be listed - normally

not, use the Select button to choose CA BrightStor ARCserve9 as your default backup program. 7. Select Tape Backup from
the Maintain menu to open the Upload CA BrightStor ARCserve9 dialog. 8. Use Browse to get to the
CD or disk location where the CABrightStor9.0.iso file is located.
9. Open CABrightStor9.0.iso on the Choose File dialog (Fig. 3) so that it appears in the Browse box of the Upload CA Arc Server dialog (Figure 5). 10. SelectUpload and wait
about 5 minutes for the file to load.
11. The CA username is always caroot. Enter a password of your choice. 12. For Domain Name, enter
any name of your choice. 13. From the DB Install
Directory pull-down, select a location for the CA data base. Although the default location is the OS partition, we recommend installing the CA database on the larger data drives so they will have more space for expansion. A share must first be setup on Tandberg NAS to appear on this list.

From the Maintain menu, open the /extra dialog and select Configure. Note that if the options on the /extra dialog are grayed out, you must first create a volume and share. 14. For the license key section shown in Figure 8, you may try all features of the backup
program free during the trial period. Enter no data and select the Install button to start the process. The installation takes about ten minutes, during which many messages will scroll down the screen. You need not respond to them. The final message should say “Configuration Successful.”
15. After the “configuration successful” message, reselect the Tape Backup button to view the following dialog:

16. The displayed hyperlink opens the CA top-level menu shown in Figure 11 below. Note that the last four digits of the hyperlink show the GUI port. You can change that number by replacing the value in the GUI port field. You may also change the
domain name and password from this dialog. If Password is left blank when either the GUI port or domain name is changed, the password reverts to the factory default. To renew an existing password or set a new one, enter it for Password on this dialog. 17. Select the hyperlink to open the CA top-level menu, which is used to set up and

Basic Setup
Tandberg Tape Drive Setup
If you have a standard Tandberg tape drive, the steps below should allow you to setup CA ARCserve to recognize your hardware and schedule backup jobs between the NAS and tape drive. (If you have an autoloader, see instructions in the autoloader setup section.) The CA BrightStor ARCserve9 backup program comes with detailed documentation and on-line Help. If the brief steps below are insufficient, see the CA documentation.
When the ARCserve9 interface (Figure 11) first appears, select the Logon button to open the Domain Login dialog. Enter the User ID (caroot) and the password you selected in the steps above. Anytime CA asks for your username and password, caroot and the password you entered during installation should work.
1. Use the hyperlink (Figure 10) to open the CA top-level menu (Figure 11) and
select Device Manager.
2. From the Device pull-down menu, select Device Group Configuration. 3. Select Device, and verify that the tape
drive is listed in a similar manner as shown below.

run a backup. To run a backup from the primary ARCserve9 menu, start by selecting Backup Manager.
5. To identify the Source (shares to be backed up), look for the NAS ID under UNIX Agents. Click the green boxes of the shares you want to back up, as shown in Figure 13.
6. Select the Destination tab. Make sure the tape drive is listed. Assign a media name to back up to, if desired.
7. Select the traffic light to schedule the backup.

Required Modification for AutoLoader
The existing configuration is not correctly set for an Autoloader. You need to manually modify the assigned configuration in order to correctly manipulate the Autoloader. This can be accomplished by the following process:

Group Configuration.
3. Delete “Group 0” from the “Drive” display.
4. Select Library, and create a new group. 5. Select slots and assign the available
drive into the new group. It should now look as shown in Figure 14.
6. Follow the backup steps above. Note that for Destination, the backup media name is listed within the autoloader.
Tandberg Menu Bar Options for CA Brightstor ARCserve9 Support
The menu below appears at the base of the dialog shown in Figure 10. It provides several Tandberg NAS Options for CA Brightstor ARCserve9 Support.

that indicates the status of several CA daemons. If the daemons are running, the status page will appear like the page shown here.
You can use the Stop/ Start All toggle button to place the daemons on line or to take them off line.
If any of the required daemons are not running, select Stop All,

Conf. After editing the
configuration, you can save them with the Save button or restore to the factory default configuration with the Restore
Default button. The top of the
file provides editing informa-tion. For more information, read CA documentation or contact CA Technical Support. Manage Logs – This dialog allows you to save space by clearing selected logs.

set a variety of messaging options. Click on a daemon name for additional informa-tion about message type options for that activity. Backup to Disk – Allows you to select a NAS volume for backup in place of (or in addition to) other media. Checking a volume and choosing Add followed by Configure designates that volume for backup via the CA interface. Un-checking an active backup volume takes it off line without removing any backup data stored on it, allowing you to reactivate the backup at a later time. The Remove option deletes the CA back-up designation including the backed up data.
Once the volume has been added, from the CA interface select Device Manager, select
Device for a pull-down menu,
and select Device Group Configuration. Note in the example how disk backup is listed as Group 1, which can be used a backup destination. Reset Password – Allows you to reset the password to the factory default password.
Beyond Installation
Entering the License Keys
After the trial period, you will need to select the specific CA ARCserve9 services to buy. You will then be furnished license keys to enter in the Enter License Keys dialog.

2. Select the Install License Keys button.
3. When the process completes, you are returned to the Enter License Keys dialog, and

features will show “INSTALLED.” If the backup services are not running after the update, return to the Plugins dialog. Deselect the service and select it again.
Uninstalling ARCserve9
On the Plugins dialog, first select Disable, which adds a Remove button; then select Remove. This does not remove associated data files (i.e., files that have been backed
