EXTRACTING IOS

DATABASE

USING IFUNBOX SOFTWARE

THE PURPOSE OF THIS GUIDE

This guide will allow you to access MoneyWiz for iOS (either iPhone or iPad) database on your device.

This operation might be necessary if you need to: • send the database over for investigation purposes, • make a manual copy of the database,

• replace the database on the device, • access the images/attachments folder.

It should not take more than 5 minutes to complete. Please note that you

do not need to jailbreak your device in order to do it and your device warranty will not be affected.

The process requires you to have at least temporary access to a Mac or a Windows PC.

1. DOWNLOADING IFUNBOX

A. Visit Developer’s Website

Please open your browser of choice and paste this link into the address bar:

http://dl.i-funbox.com

(alternatively, just click on the link in the guide)

iFunBox is a free software available for both Windows and Mac that allows you to browse the contents of your iOS device that are otherwise hidden.

Please do not download iFunBox for iOS - you need to download either version for Windows PC or Mac.

B. Choose Correct Version And Download

Look under the appropriate Operating System table (either

Windows or Mac) and choose a row that has ! image next to it. This will ensure that you are downloading the latest version.

Once you found the appropriate table row, look to the right of the table and click the download format. For OS X you should

choose .dmg while for Windows you can either choose .exe or .zip. It’s up to you but we recommend choosing .zip.

C. Install The Software

Install the software as you would normally install any other application on your computer. If you have any questions, let us know!

2. USING IFUNBOX

This guide has been prepared on a Mac but the software is nearly identical on both platforms.

A. Kill MoneyWiz Background Process

Before doing anything, we need to make sure that MoneyWiz is not running in the background.

I. Press the round Home Button twice. II. A new row with app icons will

appear at the bottom. Find

MoneyWiz’s icon, then tap & hold on it until a red minus appears.

III. Tap on the minus and make sure that MoneyWiz’s icon disappeared.

I. Press the round Home Button twice. II. The view will zoom out to a

thumbnail gallery of app screens. Find MoneyWiz’s thumbnail and swipe it out to the top, like you were to throw it through the top of your device. 

B. Connect Your iOS Device

C. Browse To MoneyWiz’s Folder

Click once on User Applications to display your applications in a grid to the right. Find MoneyWiz and click twice on its icon. 

MoneyWiz 1.x MoneyWiz 2.x 

You are now browsing MoneyWiz’s support folders. If there is nothing there, you need to launch MoneyWiz on your device once so they can be created (make sure to quit it afterwards again as described in section 2. A).

You should see Documents folder now - it contains your MoneyWiz database and attachments.

Depending on what you have been instructed to do by one of our representatives, you should now read the appropriate section:

D. Extract The Database

Click once on Documents folder and find ! Copy to Mac button at the top menubar then click it. A new dialog will appear asking you where to save the folder. Save it to your Desktop.

If you were asked to send the database over to us for investigation

purposes, you should compress the folder now. Right-click on the folder on Desktop and choose Compress. For the name of the archive choose the name of your device (i.e. iPhone.zip) then send the archive to us. If it is a backup, just keep it safe!

⤳ You can now proceed to section G.

E. Replace The Database

If you have not already done this, download the attachment we have sent you and click twice on it to unpack it.

Then find ! Copy from Mac button at the top and click it. Locate the attachment we have sent you and copy all the files from our attachment to the .AppData folder one by one:

• ipadMoneyWiz.sqlite

• ipadMoneyWiz.sqlite-shm * • ipadMoneyWiz.sqlite-wal *

* - in case we did not send you those, just proceed adding the first one.

F. Access The Image Attachments

Click twice on Documents to enter the folder then navigate to .AppData. If you have any image attachments stored on your iOS device, you will notice there’s an Images folder next to the database. If you wish to make a backup copy of it, you can use the ! Copy to Mac icon with the folder selected to copy the images to your computer.

Similarly, you could put images from other device by using the !

Copy from Mac button.

G. Disconnect The Device

In order to safely close all operations, first quit iFunBox software and then disconnect your device from the USB cable.

Unless you were told to do so, please do not launch and use MoneyWiz for now!
