PGP 9.6 for Windows

How to Add keys to the All Keys key ring:

1. Run the PGP application from Start->All Programs->PGP. 2. In the PGP main application window, click on Search for keys.

3. In the Search for keys window, select pgpkeys.its.yale.edu from the search dropdown box and click on the search button.

5. In the search for keys window, select and right click on the keys you want to add. 6. Select Add To and click on All Keys.

How to encrypt a file:

1. In Windows Explorer, locate and right-click on the file you want to encrypt with PGP. 2. Select PGP Desktop and click on Secure <file to be secured> with key.

Adding another key:

3. In the PGP Assistant window, click on Add.

4. In the Recipient Selection windows, select all the recipient keys you want to include and click the

Add button.

5. When you are done adding recipient keys, click OK.

7. In the PGP Assistant window, ensure your signing key is displayed in the Signing Key dropdown box and

select a location where you want to save your encrypted file. Click Next.

How to Decrypt a PGP encrypted a file:

1. In Windows Explorer, locate and right-click on the PGP encrypted file you want to decrypt. 2. Select PGP Desktop and click on Decrypt & Verify <file to be decrypted>.

(<file to be decrypted> contains the name of the file you are going to decrypt)

3. You will see the PGP decrypt progress window. Please wait.

How to configure Whole Disk Encryption:

Please Note: It is recommended that you read the PGP WDE Best practices section in the PGP user

guide before configuring your computer’s hard to use Whole Disk Encryption. At the very least, you should back up your disk before you encrypt your entire disk.

1. Run the PGP application from Start->All Programs->PGP.

2. In the PGP main application window, click on PGP Disk and then click on Encrypt Whole Disk or
