Dear Parish Family,
As school begins for the children at St. Joseph Regional Catholic School this week, we are mindful of all our children, in Catholic, private, & public schools as they begin a new academic year. We are so blessed to have Mrs. Erin Meunier as our new Principal and Mrs. Courtney Smith as our new Vice Principal, leading our teachers, staff and students this year.
They have been working hard this summer along with some other teachers and staff to get everything ready for the new school year. It was a joy to see our teachers come back this past week to set up their classrooms and take part in different workshops to prepare for the new school year.
This time of year also marks the beginning of our parish Faith Formation classes for youth and adults. We are also blessed to have Mrs. Helene Stever as our new Director of Faith
Formation. Mrs. Stever will be at a table in the vestibule after all of the Masses this weekend with information about the upcoming adult and children’s sacramental/faith formation programs. For children in grades K- 8 that attend public school or are home schooled, parents will be able to pick up a
registration form from Mrs. Stever this weekend. Our weekly Sunday morning Religious Education classes begin on Sunday, September 19 (9:30 – 10:45 am) and are back in person at St.
Joseph Regional Catholic School this year.
And we ask you to pray and discern about teaching in our Religious Education Program. We still need volunteers and greatly appreciate any help you can give us. If the Lord has placed it on your heart to consider being a volunteer catechist or teacher aide, please contact Mrs. Stever for more
information. I pray that this will be both a joyous and fruitful year of growth in knowledge and in the love of God.
A Prayer for a New School Year God of wisdom, be with our children as they begin a new school year. Bless and protect them, their teachers and the school staff. Give our children strength and grace as their bodies grow; wisdom and knowledge as they search for understanding; and peace and zeal for You, our God, in their hearts. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Faithfully, in Christ, Father Rob

Blingo! Save the Date!
Saturday, October 9, 2021
St. Joseph “Blingo” Fundraiser to be held in the Parish Hall.
Details to follow.
Tuesday ‐ Thursday, 9:30am ‐ 4:30 pm The rectory office is closed on Monday and Friday during the summer Governor Hogan has reins tuted an indoor public mask mandate in
Prince George's County due to a con nued rise in COVID‐19 metrics. This means that all residents and visitors over the age of five will be required to wear masks in all indoor public venues and businesses in Prince George’s County, even if they are fully vaccinated.
Consequently for our parish, we will need to require the use of face masks for everyone who comes to our church regardless of their vaccina on status. We hope that this will be short lived as we con nue to pray for an end to the coronavirus and for everyone's safety and protec on.

Last Sunday at the 11:00am Mass, we sent forth Annamarie Garcia with our prayers and blessing, as she will soon depart for the convent on September 8 to discern a religious voca on with the Servants of the Lord and Virgin of Matera.
Pictured is Annamarie receiving the blessing, surrounded by her loving family: Lenny & Sarah Garcia, and her sister, Felicity.
Our prayers and support goes with you, Annamarie! May God who has begun this good work in you bring it to comple on in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Blessing & Sending of those Departing for the Convent.
Heavenly Father, you call forth disciples as witnesses to your power that is active in the lives of your faithful people. We thank you for the call to religious life that you have placed on the heart of Annamarie Garcia. Bless her as she departs for the convent and begins this time of religious formation with the Servants of the Lord and Virgin of Matera. Guide and direct her paths that she may properly discern your will with peace in her heart and clarity of mind. Enliven and encourage our parish to call forth religious vocations from our families and our
communities. Give depth and persistence to our prayers for Annamarie and draw us all into that Kingdom where you live and reign with the Son and Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

Read the Gospel of the week and color the image.
Wash your hands before you eat! Did you know that rule came from God, so that we would stay healthy? In today’s Gospel, the Pharisees liked to wash their hands and follow God’s rules, only because they liked to show off. Don’t be like those Pharisees. When you follow God’s rules, do the right thing out of love for God.
Dear God, help me to keep my heart clean, full of love for you and other people.
