Indicator 5.1 – Brief Description of learning or data management systems that support the effective use of student assessment results.
The effective use of student assessment results is facilitated by a variety of data management systems. Electronic Testing Folders:
State assessment results are electronically distributed to secure system and school level testing folders that are housed on the school system computer network. Data for all state assessments are organized in a manner that allows for the efficient analysis of assessment data at the system, school, grade, and, often, classroom level. Overall test performance and performance at the domain level is organized by the use of pivot tables.
Disaggregation of data is facilitated by the use of pivot table filters. As an example, the screenshot below is of the data analysis tool provided for the Reading CRCT. Similar tools are constructed for each of the state assessment programs.
Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS)
SLDS is an electronic data management tool provided to the school system by the State of Georgia and accessible to all school and system personnel who have a login to the student information system, PowerSchool. SLDS houses
longitudinal data including student assessment results, demographic data, attendance data, and course history/grades. SLDS allows teachers access to this wide range of information for their current roster of students. In addition to allowing for the efficient management, analysis, and use of education data, SLDS serves as an electronic permanent record file for each student. SLDS houses assessment results for state assessment programs and provides tools to analyze assessment results at the system, school, classroom level, and subgroup level. Below is a screenshot of a portion of the district level SLDS page dedicated to the Georgia High School Writing Test (GHSWT).
In December, 2012, the SLDS was expanded to include an additional tool, the Georgia Student Growth Model (GSGM). The GSGM is designed to promote effective use of student assessment data, instructional

the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) and End of Course Tests (EOCT). The GSGM uses historical CRCT and EOCT results to describe growth in student achievement across time. To quantify growth, each student receives a Student Growth Percentile (SGP) which describes his or her “rank” on current
achievement relative to other students with similar prior achievement. The growth of groups of students is represented by the median SGP of that particular group of students. The GSGM provides a visualization tool like the sample screenshot below that illustrates growth as represented by the Biology EOCT. The darker green “bubble” represents the Oconee County Schools and the other green bubbles represent all other state school systems. Being in the upper right hand quadrant of the graph indicates that Biology EOCT achievement is high (90% meets and exceeds) and that the median growth rate of students is as high as or higher than 67% of students around the state with similar prior achievement. The GSGM allows for the access of growth percentiles at the system, school, grade, classroom, subgroup, and student level.
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Online Reports
MAP assessments are administered online in grades Kindergarten - Grade 8 three times per year in the areas of Reading, Mathematics, and Language (3-8 only). MAP results are reported in an online format, and these results can be analyzed in a multiple ways using a wide variety of reports that are available via the secure reports website of the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), the vendor for MAP. These reports provide tools for the efficient analysis of MAP results and use of results to adjust instruction.
Online reports that are available within 24 of testing include:
Teacher Reports - a list of students’ test events for the selected teacher for the selected term.
Class Rosters - a list of the class rosters for each teacher in your district for a selected term. Student Progress Reports are accessible from the Class Roster report.
Class by RIT Score - a list of test events for a selected teacher's class within a school for a selected term and subject, sorted by RIT score.
Class by Subject - a list of test events for a selected teacher's class within a school for a selected term and subject, sorted by Student Name. This report can be optionally grouped by ethnicity or gender.

End-of-Term Reports that are available once the testing window has closed include:
Student Progress Report - Current and past scores in each subject for each student are displayed. Grade Reports - sorted alphabetically and by RIT scores. These reports feature one group (page) for
each grade; one report sorts the data by students' last names and one by RIT score.
Class Reports - sorted alphabetically and by RIT scores. These reports feature one group (page) for each class; one report sorts the data by students' last names and one by RIT score. The Class Report by Alpha provides historical test information for each student rostered for the term.
District Summary Reports School and by Grade - display average scores for each grade in each school in the district. Summary information is available by Class, School, and District. Summary information for each goal area are included in these reports.
Achievement Status and Growth Summary or Projection Report - provides each student's term to term growth and shows how that growth relates to the student's growth projections.
Student Growth Summary Report - summarizes by subject and grade the term to term growth of all students by school.
Student Growth District Summary Report - aggregates all schools’ term to term growth statistics by subject and grade.
