The vision of Melbourne – A City for People of All Abilities, Disability Action Plan 2005-2009 is to ensure Melbourne is an inclusive, accessible and equitable city where all people, irrespective of their abilities, can enjoy all the city has to offer.

The City of Melbourne has developed this guide in response to requests from young people for more information about accessibility in city venues. City Bars – an Access Guide includes detailed information about 30 bars and entertainment venues within the municipality.

Venues listed have volunteered to be

included in this guide. Inclusion in the guide does not mean a venue is fully accessible, but it does mean the venue has made a commitment to help all customers choose a venue that suits their needs.

Melbourne is a vibrant and fun 24-hour city offering an array of clubs, pubs and entertainment venues to suit all tastes, interests and ages.

The City of Melbourne hopes you will find this guide useful in planning your next night out in the city.

Australian Standards for Access and Mobility

This Guide is intended to provide key access information for patrons when

choosing a venue that meets their individual requirements. Australian Standard 1428 prescribes the basic requirements for physical access. For a variety of reasons not all public premises comply with this Standard 1428. Listing a bar or entertainment venue in this Guide does not imply that it meets all requirements for access Please read venue descriptions carefully, or contact the venue to confirm any details that are unclear.

Details to watch out for

• Toilets

Where a toilet is listed as accessible, this means the toilet displays the international access symbol, and the cubicle may be larger than standard. However, the toilet location, design and fixtures may not be fully accessible. If this is of concern to you, please check with the venue.

• Car parking

Public on-street parking or off site car parking is available at a venue unless otherwise stated. Information about designated accessible parking has been listed where possible.

Before you use this guide –
