Followthis proceduretoassignproductstoalicenseand,optionally,limitthe accesstoa licensetospecific divisions,agents,nodes, andusers.
Youcanassignlicensesonlyif youhavearole ofAdministrator,orLicenseand SoftwareAssetManager.Assigninga licensecomprisesthefollowingsteps:
v Assigningproductstothelicense. Ifyouhavecreatedthelicenseusingan electronicentitlement, theproductisalreadyassignedtothelicenseand the productassignmentcannotbe changed.
v Modifyingthelicensesettingstoindicatethatthelicensehasbeen verified.
v Distributingthelicensetotargets.
Toassignlicenses,performthefollowingsteps:

1. Intheportfolio,clickAssignLicenses.
2. Youcanusethispaneltosearchforthelicensethatyouwanttoassign.
Completethepanelasfollows:

Selectthetype oflicensefromthedrop-down list.

Whenalicenseiscreateditisgivenanotverifiedflagtoindicatethatthe licensedistribution datathatwas automaticallycreated hasnotbeen validated. Whenyouverifythedata,youcanchangetheflag toverified.
Use thisfilterto selectlicensesaccordingtowhetheryouhavesettheflag.
3. Click Next.
4. Toassignproductstothelicense,selectthelicenseandclick Assignproducts.
WhenyoucreatedanIPLAtypelicense, theLicensedcatalogproductstable hasAddIBMproductsandAddnonIBMproductsbuttons.Youcanadd either allIBMproductsorallnon-IBMproductstothelicense,butnotboth.

Note: IBMproductreferstoa productsoldbyIBMandincludedintheIBM SoftwareCatalog.
5. Click Addtoincludea productintheLicensedcatalogproductstable.
6. Searchforandselecttheproductsthatyouwanttoassigntothelicense.
Note: Allproductsassignedtoalicensemust havethesamehierarchylevel.
Afteryouhaveaddedthefirstproduct,thehierarchylevelfilteris disabled.Tochangethehierarchylevel,youmust firstdeleteall previouslyassignedproducts.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Finish.
9. Select thelicenseandclick Changetomodifyit.
Thispanelprovidessomeinformationfieldsandtheparametersthatyoucan set.Youcanchangethefollowingfields:

Thenamethatwasassociatedwith thelicensewhenitwas created.
Threshold
Thepercentage oflicenseuseafterwhicha warningnotificationissentto theadministrator.
Licenseverification
Thelicenseverification flag.Checkittoindicatethatthelicensehasbeen verified.
10. Click Propertiestocheckthelicensepropertiesand clickClose.
11. Click Finish.
12. Select thelicenseforwhichyouwanttocreateadistribution quota,andclick Distribute.
13. Whenyoucreatealicense,thetotalquantityforthelicenseisautomatically assignedtothedefaulttarget type(Organization).Toredefinethedistribution quota,selectthedistribution inthetableandclickChange.
Setthedistributionquantityand thetargettypeasfollows:

Thelicensequantitythatyouwanttoassigntothedistribution.
Target type
Thetarget typeindicatestheavailabilityofthelicensewithinthe organizationmonitoringstructure.Youcanselecttheindividualtargets usingDefinetargets.Thepossibletargettype valuesare:

Distributethelicensetotheentireorganization Division
Distributethelicensetotheselecteddivisionordivisions Node Distributethelicensetotheselectednodeornodes Agent Distributethelicensetotheselectedagentoragents
Inthisscenario,youselectthetargettypeAgenttodistributethelicensetoa selectedagent.

16. Searchforthetargetsto populatetheUnlinkedtargetstable.
17. Select thetargetsfromthetableandclick OK.
18. Click OKagain.
19. Toassignthelicenseto aselecteduser,clickDefine users.Notethatthis buttonmight notbeavailabledependingonthelicensetype.
20. Click Changeusers.
21. Select whethertoAllowallusers,orsearchforusersandselectauser from theUserstable.Click OK.
Note: Whenyouassignausertoa licensedistributionquota,youwillonlybe abletoassignamulti-instancevalue ofdisabledorsameuser. See

22. Click FinishintheCreateorUpdateDistributionParameterspanel.
