14.1.1 objective
(a) Academic Institutes can be major resources in a company’s innovation strategy. In the western countries, extensive collaboration between universities and industry and the ensuing transfer of scientific knowledge has been viewed as one of the main contributors to the successful technological innovation and economic growth during past few decades. Transfer of knowledge from universities to industry should be of primary concern of academic Institutions.
(b) To promote this concept, this scheme provides financial assistance to institutions for setting up Research Park in collaboration with the Industry or group of Industries. Grant of Rs. 1 crore (per State-UT) shall be given under this scheme.
14.1.2 Eligibility
(a) AICTE approved Institutes / AICTE approved University Departments with NBA accreditation. (b) 300-500 sqm built-up area for setting up research facilities.
(c) Matching grant from Industry.
14.1.3 Duration of Project
(a) Three years.
14.1.4 Limit of funding
(a) Rs. 1 Crore by AICTE and Rs.1 Crore from participating Industry (15% Recurring inclusive)
14.1.5 Disbursement of the Funds
(a) Disbursement of 60% of non-recurring and recurring of year 1. (b) Disbursement of 30% of non-recurring and recurring of year 2. (c) Disbursement of 10% of non-recurring and recurring of year 3.
14.1.6 Processing Methodology:
(a) The proposal shall be assessed by an Expert Committee consisting of three members not below the rank of Professor.
14.1.7 Terms and Conditions
(a) The Institute shall provide 300-500 sq m built up area for setting up research facilities in the Institute premises.
(b) The Institute shall collaborate with Industry or a cluster of Industries.
(c) The Industry partner/s shall also contribute Rs. 1 Crore as matching grant for setting up research facilities at the Institute. To this extant, the Institute shall obtain a written consent from the Industry partner and provide the same to AICTE, in original
(d) Industry shall pass on their research/innovation work to the Institute or to a cluster of Institutes. (e) Institute students and teaching faculty shall work on such ideas for converting into successful
technological innovations / outcome based projects. (f) Neighboring Institutes can also join the activity. (g) Neighboring industries can also join the activity
