Editing the Design

Once embroidery designs have been generated using the Magic Wand, you may use any of the available tools to edit the design.

Adjust stitch angle to 92°, press Enter to accept the change.

Select leaves, open Object Properties dialog box. Select Fancy from the Stitch Type drop down menu. Select Honeycomb.

Sequencing Colors

Open Color Film to view number and order of stitching. The flowers need to be re-sequenced to eliminate excess thread changes. Close Color Film.

Notes Auto & Partial Appliqué

Auto-Applique

Auto-Appliqué creates up to four layers of stitching - placement line, cutting line, tackdown and cover stitch-for each appliqué object. When planning applique, begin with bottom fabric layer and work toward top layer.

Select Picture tab>Load Picture>My Designs>Samples 3

>Watermelon.bmp. Select Design tab. Select Auto-Appliqué tool.

Read prompts on status bar. Note: The Auto-Appliqué tool works like the Closed Curve tool; the last 2 points will join automatically.

Do not begin on a corner. Create boundary around watermelon rind, treating white and green as one area. Create boundary around water-melon flesh. TIP: Turn off picture; position waterwater-melon flesh boundary reference points exactly on top of previously created rind boundary reference points. Turn picture on to position remaining points. Press Enter two times.

Select entry and exit points. Mark frame out position to complete auto applique process. Select watermelon flesh, change to C3.

Select all, right click to open Object Properties, change stitch width to 1.5mm (tack-down is automatically re-set). Select Trim In Place option.

Click OK.

Select View>Slow Redraw. Watch appliqué stitch. Notice duplicate satin stitching on overlapping areas; this will not produce professional results when embroidered. Note: Auto-appliqué is most effective for designs with a single element. For appliqué designs with adjoining boundaries, use the Partial Appliqué feature to complete the applique design.

Partial Applique

Partial appliqué removes one of the layers of satin stitching from adjoin-ing appliqué pieces. Plan appliqué sequence carefully, workadjoin-ing from bottom layer to top. Stitching is removed in the order in which bound-aries are created. Note: If overlapping areas are significantly “off”, reshape boundaries to align stitching before applying partial appliqué.

Select File>Select All. Click on Partial Appliqué tool. Overlapping satin stitches are removed. Select Slow Redraw to watch design stitch sequence.

Return to Picture mode and process picture using Artwork Preparation
