I honestly don't know where I am to go to see a doctor or dentist. So at this time yet I haven't gone anywhere.
I haven't been able to rate the coverage at this point. I tried to get health services with the IowaCare in my local community, but they do not accept it. I might not have gone to the right locations. I just now discovered that there is an IowaCare hotline.
How to get general assistance with health problems
When people are approved for IowaCare they should be given some sort of information as to what this program covers. I have not been given any information as to what this program covers. I called my Dr.'s office 2 1/2 months ago to get an appointment for a colonoscopy and have still not heard from the program as to when I can get an appointment for one.
I just would like to know what it covers. What test I can have done and would be covered.

It would be nice to know beforehand specifically any out of pocket costs. You'll have, what is covered, how often etc. I realize the clinic I go to is very busy, but sometimes I feel the nurse I see prior to my doctor could care less about why I am there in fact she'll even tell me not to bother explaining what's going on with me but rather
It would be nice to know what kinds of care can be provided at the clinic closest to home and what you need to go to UIHC for. It needs to be explained better.
I've tried to get ahold of Medicaid helpline on phone to find out if they will help me with hearing. I have severe profound hearing loss in both ears. Over the phone they told me to call Broadlawns Center w/
no phone number to contact. Needed to know if thy would cover anything w/ my hearing loss and maybe get new hearing aids. Never got ahold of anyone.
Need to explain more and better how IowaCare works, what is covered, how to go about making appointments, and whether or not you can have a primary doctor in your area for regular checkups.
Can you have a primary doctor in your area for illness like flu, strep throat, infection.

Doesn’t really tell what is available. Tries to send me to Iowa City for care. I don’t drive. Do you have a book that tells what is available? My son who is diabetic doesn’t get the proper care he needs through Crescent Center. They canceled his IowaCare because he has hospital care through Medicare. He has a lot of stress because of this. He has Charcot in his feet and can’t afford the foot doctor, plus he has cataracts and a separated retina in his right eye. He was going to have his vision corrected with surgery and they sent him to Iowa City for the eye appointment to get ready for surgery. He got a call saying the EKG came back abnormal and was scheduled to have his heart checked when they canceled his IowaCare. No EKG, no eye surgery. Where does he go from there? I am on IowaCare and I found it very misleading. I was not explained how it worked. I did call the
[illegible word] and the lady informed me that it covered nothing on what I was asking about. No dental, no vision. I have hearing loss, she said no. Lower back problems- no. So far my experience has been very negative.
I’ve never used my coverage on anything because what was sent to me is confusing about how to even use it
I am very uniformed about the procedure to be followed for treatment. Have many questions about emergency procedures.
Would like to know what test and procedures are covered before they are done at local office, instead of after. I now have a bill for some blood work that was done and am on unemployment. Money is real scarce for paying extra bills.
I have it but never used it. Don’t know where to go, you’ve never told me so I have doctor bills. No transfer.
I have found it difficult to get some questions answered regarding the program in regards to renewal application and reasons why denied.

I'm never sure when I need a referral for medical help like a second opinion. And what it all covers for sure. Where to go if I have a health problem and my doctor is not open especially the week end.

The medical physician I went to didn’t even know where I can get my prescriptions filled. I was told anywhere. That isn’t the case. I had to pay for them.
Uncovered expenses not explained prior to service.
Would be nice for someone to explain the ins and outs of IowaCare such as getting a prescription from UIHC and your home base (People’s Clinic) will not fill because main doctor at People’s Clinic didn't write the prescription.
IowaCare needs to do a better job at advertising the services they provide.
I dislike that there is nothing that tells you exactly what is covered or not on IowaCare. My husband needs hearing aids, glasses, breathing machine parts... We always have to go to Iowa City, which isn’t close and it costs money that we don’t have.
I’m not sure how to use IowaCare. I need to have surgery but not sure how to go about setting up an appointment, etc. Plus may need a new card? Can’t find my original one since I moved.

I did not receive any booklet about what IowaCare covered. Recently did receive one sheet in mail.

I do not know where I can go for my healthcare. I had requested information, but hadn't received. I have been without a job since 2008. Therefore I have no money to pay a premium. I had just started a job attending college and am in need of help or at least information. My social worker will not return my email concerns nor will the DHS office. Please Help?!?!
what is not. I don’t know what to do in an emergency. It would be nice to get information on what is covered, and what is not. I have been waiting to go see my heart doctor but I don’t know how to get what is needed so I can. I have heart problems and haven’t been able to see my heart doctor for 3 or 4 years. IowaCare has so many great things to offer people but it needs to let people know what they can or cannot do. The case workers for IowaCare need to be a little more accessible. I don’t know who my case worker is. Thank you for letting me voice a few opinions.
I would really like a few tests run, but don't know where or how to go about it, I know my hearing is really bad, but can't afford hearing tests, or hearing aids. It is hard to know what is covered. I go to my IowaCare doctor and they run test and then I receive a bill. I have no idea what they cover. I contact IowaCare and everyone I talk to tells me something different. Then I panic, because I can't afford thousand $ tests. Other than that I feel it is a good medical program.
I think it would be nice to know what services are available. I have never received any information on this. It seems like things change a lot so I’m thankful that the clinic is usually aware of changes. Such as where testing for mammograms will be done. Before I go to the doctor I’m a little anxious about costs because I’m only working a part-time position. And if I don’t know what something will cost it worries me. If something is needed, I have to figure out if I can skip a payment somewhere else.
