4.1. Faculty Qualifications The school shall have a clearly defined faculty which, by virtue of its distribution, multidisciplinary nature, educational preparation, practice experience and research

and instructional competence, is able to fully support the school’s mission, goals and objectives. 4.1.a. A table showing primary faculty who support the degree programs offered by the school. It should present data effective at the beginning of the academic year in which the self-study is submitted to CEPH and should be updated at the beginning of the site visit. This information must be presented in table format, organized by department, specialty area or other organizational unit as appropriate to the school and must include at least the following: a) name, b) title/academic rank, c) FTE or % time, d) tenure status or classification*, e) gender, f) race, g) graduate degrees earned, h) discipline in which degrees were earned, i) institutions from which degrees were earned, j) current instructional areas and k) current research interests (See Table 4.1.a).

Our faculty members possess expertise in a wide range of disciplines that enhances our ability to accomplish the mission of the College. For the purposes of this self-study, we categorized faculty into Primary and Secondary categories according to the accreditation standards. In addition, based on the unique structure of the units in our College, we also included a list of Extension faculty who play an important role in the completion of our mission (RF C4.A.). The following definitions were used for the categorization of the faculty into their respective groups.

Primary Faculty Members (Table 4.1.a.) are faculty who meet all of the criteria below: 1) Professorial-rank faculty and instructors who have 100% FTE in the College 2) Contribute to teaching and/or mentoring of students

3) Have training and/or expertise in the academic discipline to which they contribute to #2 (above) Examples include: Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Professors, and Instructors The total number of Primary faculty listed in Table 4.1.a. is 76. This number includes the full-time internship coordinators.

Secondary Faculty Members (Table 4.1.b.)

Professorial faculty who meet some but not all of the criteria required for “Primary Faculty” and

contribute to the teaching and/or mentoring of students. Examples include: OSU adjunct faculty (faculty in other colleges at OSU who serve on graduate committees or who teach courses for students in our College); research faculty, faculty, and instructors with less than 100% FTE in the College who contribute to the instructional mission of our College. Table 4.1.b. includes data for 46 faculty.

Extension Faculty

The 105 PHHS Extension Faculty in the College hold various ranks and have explicit outreach

engagement as a responsibility in their position descriptions. These faculty members are located both on and off campus. Although they tend not to have responsibilities directly related to the education and mentoring of students, their main educational audience is members of the community.

In Tables 4.1.a. (Primary) and 4.1.b. (Secondary) faculty are organized by discipline. The College has a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary, collaborative work; therefore, many faculty members cross multiple disciplines. We have placed them in the discipline that most closely reflects their current work. A few individuals, however, split time across multiple disciplines and in those cases we have placed them in the discipline most closely tied to their academic degree. The vitae for the primary faculty are in RF C4.B.
