Division 2.3 Floor guarding § 2.3.1 New structures

Article 2.14

1. A structure to be built has provisions that adequately prevent falling off the floor.

2. In so far as regulations for a functional unit are prescribed in table 2.14, for that functional unit the requirement of the first paragraph is complied with through application of those regulations.

3. The first paragraph does not apply to the functional units for which no regulation is prescribed in table 2.14.

Article 2.15

1. At an edge, a floor has a non-movable guarding if that edge is more than 1 m higher than an adjacent floor, the adjacent land or the adjacent water.

2. The first paragraph does not apply at the location of the connection of the floor to: a. a staircase or

b. a ramp.

3. Without prejudice to the second paragraph, the first paragraph does not apply to: a. an edge of a stage,

b. an edge of a floor adjacent to a basin, c an edge of a loading platform,

d. an edge of a train platform, and

e. an edge of a floor that can be considered to be equivalent to an edge as referred to under a up to and including d.

Article 2.16

1. A guarding as referred to in article 2.15, has a height measured from the floor of at least the value prescribed in table 2.14.

2. In deviation of the first paragraph, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15, has a height measured from the floor of at least 1.2 m if the floor is higher than 13 m above an adjacent floor or above the adjacent land or the adjacent water.

3. In deviation of the first and second paragraphs, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15 at the location of a window that may or may not be movable has a height measured from the floor of at least 0.85 m. 4. In deviation of the first paragraph, a floor guarding has a height measured from the floor of at least

0.7 m, if the total of that height and the width of a horizontal plane at that level is at least 1.1 m. Article 2.17

1. The horizontal distance between a guarding as referred to in article 2.15 and the floor is not greater than 0.05 m.

2. Up to a height of 0.7 m above the floor, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15 has no openings with a width greater than the limit value prescribed in table 2.14.

3. A guarding as referred to in article 2.15 has no openings with a width greater than the limit value prescribed in table 2.14.

4. Up to a height of 0.7 m above the floor, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15 in a section of a functional unit also intended for visitors, has no openings with a width greater than 0.1 m. Article 2.18

1. To prevent climbing over, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15, has no parts a person may step on between 0.2 m and 0.7 m above the floor.

2. To prevent climbing over, a guarding as referred to in article 2.15 in a section also intended for visitors, has no parts a person may step on between 0.2 m and 0.7 m above the floor.

§ 2.3.2 Existing structures Article 2.19

1. An existing structure has provisions that adequately prevent falling off the floor.

2. In so far as regulations for a functional unit are prescribed in table 2.19, for that functional unit the requirement of the first paragraph is complied with through application of those regulations.

3. The first paragraph does not apply to the functional units for which no regulation is prescribed in table 2.19.

Article 2.20

Article 2.21

1. A guarding as referred to in article 2.20 has a height measured from the floor of at least 0.9 m. 2. In deviation of the first, second and third paragraphs, a guarding as referred to in article 2.20 at the

location of a window that may or may not be movable has a height measured from the floor of at least 0.6 m.

3. If the total of the height and the width of a horizontal plane at that height is at least 1 m, in deviation of the first paragraph, a guarding as referred to in article 2.20 has a height measured from the floor of

at least 0.6 m. Article 2.22

1. The horizontal distance between a guarding as referred to in article 2.20 and the floor is not greater than 0.1 m.

2. Up to a height of 0.6 m above the floor, a guarding as referred to in article 2.20 has no openings with a width greater than the limit value prescribed in table 2.19.
