Immediately after you have physically installed your VidyoServer as described in the VidyoServer Installation Guide, you must do the following to initially configure your VidyoConferencing system as described in this chapter.
For more information about installing the VidyoServer and for VidyoServer specifications, refer to the VidyoServer Installation Guide. You can access this document and other Vidyo product documentation by registering at selfservice.vidyo.com/register.
Note: Vidyo Customer Support may require access to your VidyoServer via SSH over port 2222 in order to troubleshoot any of your customer issues. You can restrict Vidyo Customer Support SSH access by configur-ing your firewall to only permit access from authorized networks and users or contact Vidyo Customer Sup-port for alternate options.
CHANGING THE VIDYOSERVER DEFAULT PASSWORD
The very first time you log into your VidyoServer, you are required to change from the default password at the System Administrator Console to a more secure one. As described in this section, you must change the default password for all of your VidyoServers including:
VidyoPortal
VidyoRouter
VidyoGateway (optional component)
VidyoReplay (optional component)To change the VidyoServer default password:
1. Connect a keyboard and a VGA display directly to the server.
2. Log in using the default Administrator account:
User Name: admin
Password: password (case sensitive)
The following screenshot shows the System Admin Console as seen after login via SSH using the open source PuTTY client running on Windows 7.
The menu may look slightly different depending on how you connect and the tool you use to do so.
3. At the login as: prompt enter admin.
4. At the (current) UNIX Password prompt, enter password.

7. When you need to reset the UNIX password use 13. Set 'admin' password.
CONFIGURING THE NETWORK SETTINGS AT THE ADMIN CONSOLE
Each type of VidyoServer (VidyoPortal, VidyoRouter, VidyoGateway, or VidyoReplay) has a different default IP address and is necessary to perform the steps in this section:
VidyoPortal: 192.168.1.100
VidyoRouter: 192.168.1.105
VidyoGateway: 192.168.1.110 (optional external component)
VidyoReplay: 192.168.1.115 (optional external component)
Note: The basic network setup for each type of VidyoServer is basically the same. For simplicity, the proce-dure described in this section is for the VidyoPortal. However, you must perform these steps for each of your VidyoServers.
To configure the network settings at the Admin Console:
1. Connect a keyboard and a VGA display directly to the server or establish an SSH connection to the
The following illustration shows the System Administrator Console after you have logged in using a keyboard and VGA monitor plugged directly into the VidyoPortal. The menu may look slightly differ-ent if you log in using an SSH clidiffer-ent.
3. Select 1. Configure IP Address to set the server IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway addresses, hostname, and domain name, and press Enter after entering each setting.
4. Once you have entered the required information, type Y and press Enter.
5. Select 2. Configure DNS Nameserver to set the fully qualified domain name (if it exists) for the VidyoPortal and the IP addresses of the DNS servers:
a. Enter two DNS server IP addresses. If you have only one DNS server, use the same one twice.
b. Press Enter to return to the System Administrator Console.
6. Enter the remaining network settings for the server as needed, and press Enter after entering each setting:

c. If necessary, select 5. Configure Ethernet Options to set the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) size.
7. Select 14. Reboot system to restart the server.
The new network settings are then shown. Be sure to record your network settings for additional system configuration.
UNDERSTANDING SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR CONSOLE MENU OPTIONS
The following list includes steps taking you through configurations on System Admin Console menu op-tions. Follow along and use the examples as entries to make for various configuraop-tions.
The following describes commands on the Main Menu.
1. Configure IP Address Type 1 to set the server IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway ad-dresses. Initially, information must be configured locally. You can also use this option to configure the hostname and domain name.
Examples:
Fully Qualified DN (FQDN): vidyoserver.yourcompany.com 2. Configure DNS Nameserver Type 2 to specify the Domain Nameserver.
